I am looking at a new a mobile contract deal and the cheapest deals appear to be from the above comapnies. All are CPW in various guises, but from the deleted threads it would appear e2save are a bag of !!!!!!. I spoke to a CSA in CPW today and she said they (e2save) are undergoing a major change at the moment.

Anyway, the point of my thread is:

The SonyEricsson K800i is available on the O2 400 mins, 100 text 12 month tariff with the above companies. All are great deals on paper requiring a cashback redemption. Please provide your 'balanced' views on the cashback process for each of the companies to allow me to make a decision.

BTW the deals are:

e2save onestop cpw
phone cost £ - £ - £ -
line rental £ 35.00 £ 35.00 £ 35.00
quidco £ 36.50 £ 20.00 £ 30.00
cashback £ 166.25 £ 157.50 £ 140.00
total £ 217.25 £ 242.50 £ 250.00
per month £ 18.10 £ 20.21 £ 20.83

Sorry, tried to format the above in a better fashion but the site removed the formatting.

I have just received my first cashback from onestopphoneshop and all went well, I posted my claim on Saturday 9 July and they processed the cheque on Friday 14 July (i.e. 5 working days) and I received it on Thursday 20 July. Total turnround of 10 days, so far so good.:

i was expecting an automatic cashback from osps within 90 days of my initial connection, still waiting and i think i'm going to have to threaten legal action to get them to send.. not good so far with them. Also the first cashback claim i sent special delivery about a week ago.. hopefully will hear something this next week.

Cpw is best in my opinion, and there is on thing you missed on the calculations was the trade in which is worth about £20 if u have an old phone, charger and manual.
    ummm...

They have an habbit of this, they hope people will forget about it, I did initially and it was about 4 months after I was meant to get it that I realised I hadn't got it, so I rang them and after an apology (some feeble excuse why it wasn't sent) was told it would be sent out that day...and fair enough, I did receive it a few days later :)

My phone is worth more as a private sale than a trade in hence leaving it out.
  • Hi!
I and my Mrs have had phones from e2save for the past 2 or 3 years with no significant problems. I do suspect e2save are one of the bigger operators in this market and people post here only if they have problems.

Onestopphoneshop just paid me the final one of three redemption payments plus an automatic payment on two phones. The first redemption payment took about three weeks, the next two were both processed within 10 days.

Whether the lack of problems were because I made sure that I complied with all the T&Cs to the letter (one point was ambiguous so I queried it in writing and ensured I had a written reply) I don't know.

What I did make sure was I kept photocopies (and even photographs) of what I sent them and sent it Special Delivery, just in case...

Of these three dealers I usually only recommend e2save. However, if you are connecting to O2 I do not recommend any of these companies.

Your service provider will be CPWS (Carphone Warehouse Services) responsible for your billing and customer service. You'll be stuck with their awful online billing system (if you use it), experience delays with your monthly allowance information being updated, and the deals offered to you by retentions when your minimum term is up will not be great.

I would suggest using a dealer that connects directly with O2 so that your customer service and billing is handled by O2 itself.

The online retailer I recommend is mobileshop. The cashback deal isn't quite as sweet (6 months half price rental) but this works out only slightly more per month than if you purchased from CPW (8 months half price rental). Here's the figures in the same format you are using.

    mobileshop
    phone cost £ -
    line rental £ 35.00
    quidco £ 32.50
    cashback £ 105.00
    total £ 282.50
    per month £ 23.54

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers
    Mark

I have no experience of CPW. So far I have had no problems with e2save, as for OSPS, I would say avoid.
