Help with letter to work..re wages

Right im biting the bullet and doing my letter asking for more money..wahts the worst that can happen as they say!!
BUT i have no idea how to word it without rambling..help please..basics?

Why should your employer give you any more money? Can you demonstrate your usefulness with real examples of how you've saved your company money or increased sales?

When writing a letter like this, it's not about why you personally need/want the extra money. It's about how you can justify your skills are worth the extra money to your employer.

The best way to construct the letter is start with a simple bullet list of all the reasons why they should pay you more. You then need only put polite business-like words around that list.

You have to make out a "business case", so that it's not "personal" but demonstrates your value to the business. Without saying you, you are telling the business that you are worth paying £x in order to secure your skills and experience. Whatever you do, don't make a threat as to what you do if they don't agree to your request.

No emotion; no personal stuff; just a well-constructed business case.

Why..cos i'm worth it!! i know the latter bit i was going to be a little bit more subtle than saying 'give me more money'!!

Debt free chick thankyou for your reply. I should point out i'm only a cleaner!! so nothing too major to present and for those of you who saw my last post about work will know why im asking. The points though are a good starting point and i have done this in my letter.
I will hand in tommorow and see what happens.

Please don't belittle your role or yourself it is an important job. I used to work in an office and the secretaries used to belittle themselves like that, they just couldn't see how they were an important cog in the machine and without them the machine grind to a halt.

Our store manages fine for a week or more at a time without a general manager, either because they are on holiday or they have changed managers.

On the other hand if a cleaner doesn't turn up it causes a major headache, we can't open if the shop hasn't had at least a basic clean. If we didn't have a cleaner for 2 weeks the shop would be probably closed down by environmental health, but without our manager it would function as normal.

I'm not sure what point you were trying to make, but a reliable, punctual and motivated cleaner is a very big asset to a company.

The point i was making was that the OP said she was only a cleaner,
she seemed to be putting herself down and i was pointing out that no one is more important than her (or less)

Ha do you know what makes me laugh I get better wages than most there! I'm my own boss as work on my own and don't have to put up with people like yourself! Oh and for your information it's a posh private club so not a scrubber..more a polisher!!
