Our Candy frost free fridge freezer has started clicking, accompanied by the green light flashing. It does this when the compressor tries to start up. My wife says it happens about the same time every day in the evening.
Up until today, turning it off for half an hour has cured the problem, but today it doesn't want to know.

Not sure if this is related, as this is what happened with our freezer, not fridge-freezer, but maybe of use...
the clicking noise in ours was because there was a build-up of ice at the back of the freezer which was all the way up as far as the fan, so the noise was from the fan hitting against the ice. Although it was meant to be frost-free, it was building up ice behind the panel at the back of the freezer. After 3 attempts to fix it, John Lewis recently replaced it. Hope that makes sense!
  • Thanks for that. I found it all iced up on the element last week and defrosted it. It worked for a while after that, but it hasn't cured it. The clicking is coming from the compressor as it attempts to start up. It stopped last night after I left the freezer door open for half an hour. It's been behaving OK since then.

My Candy Fridge freezer has also just given up the ghost. Anything from Rhythmic clicking from behind the LED panel accompanied with the green power light flashing and the internal door light flashing to the orange SUPER light flashing.

Some people say it is the control module costing about £40 but almost impossible to change others say i is the temperature sensor buried in the wall of the fridge. Seems another case of built in obsolesce!

I think it might be time to buy second hand and hopefully one with a regular click on/off thermostat rather than packed with electronics

I am having this very same problem with my hoover fridge freezer. Does anyone know what it ACTUALLY is nd if it can be fixed?

Mine clicks and both lights flash for about half an hour - hour and then the green "On" (Or "Frost Free") light goes on and remains solid for a couple of hours and then it starst again. When the green light is on the freezer makes a continuous humming noise (Which sounds about right) and when the lights are flashing and clicking its more of a broken humming like its repeatedly trying to start.

Thats exactly the same as me. I had a look on the web and there is a company (repaircare) that has a set price for callout, parts, labour and 3 month warranty.

They came out and ordered a new board (the one behind the LEDs) and a couple of days later came out and fitted it. Very professional experience.

The fridge freezer now appears to be working fine. No clicking, no flashing lights :T
  • I have a Beko fridge freezer. Currently, it is freezing everything in the fridge and things in the freezer are hard rock frozen despite the fact that I put the settings at lowest. This is really doing my head in as I am unable to preserve things like milk etc in fridge without it getting frozen. Also, I have to wait so long for an ice cream to melt a bit before I can eat same.
Any help on how to fix this problem is highly appreciated.

Don't buy ice cream. Wait for Mr Whippy to come round.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

I had a similar problem on my Beko AP930X american FF. In a nutshell the fan had broken down and was not circulating the air INSIDE, this is the way frost free fridges and freezers work.
Symptoms - Bottom of the fridge was freezing, top of the freezer was not freezing!!!!
This problem was the fan behind a panel at the top of the freezer on the INSIDE, it had packed up, and was not circulating the air inside.
It was a pain to get at as it was behind all the icemaking gear. replaced it with a fan from 4beko.co.uk and all is well. Fan was £20 + delivery.
Two engineers guessed over the phone it would need regassing.
Two others refused to come out - they are too hard to do.
Fixed price quote over the internet £200 - to fix any fault.
Fixed by me for under £30. It was fiddley, but worth it.
Hope this helps someone. (I trawled the internet for ages before diagnosing the fault myself)

I have a beko frost free fridge freezer. the fridge seems to be working ok but the freezer isn't. The right hand side of it seems to be frozen still but everything on the left hand side is defrosted.
The fan seems to be going round once in a while but not all the time.

Any idea? I've already had to thrown out some food...

    AND...I fixed it!

I noticed the pot for the water was nearly full so I turned it off to empty it. Turned it back on and everything seems ok...so far...
