Frost free fridge/freezer not working properly 'warning signs'

Options
I have a frost free hotpoint minstral fridge freezer

The temperature thing is flashing saying its 13 degrees on the fridge and 8 degrees on the freezer its been like it all day now.

I've tried taking off the bottom grill and clearing it out and the doors are closed properly. Does anyone have any idea what to try next?
Thanx

Is there a switch inside the fridge on the back?
Has someone accidentally moved it from highest setting to lowest?
Ours has numbers 1 -5 with 5 being the coldest.

I am having the same problems with my new fridge/freezer. I have had it for about 8 weeks only. It is a Baumatic. Freezer works fine but fridge not getting very cold. A service engineer is coming out this week to look at it so I will update you in case he tells me anything that may be of use to any of you.

    Hi,

I had the same problem with my hotpoint fridge freezer. The problem was that the automatic defrost timer was not working, and as a result no cold air was blowing into the Fridge. Every twelve hours or so the element behind the plastic bit in the freezer runs through a defrost cycle (so not truly frost free)

I replaced the timer for £50.00 and all is fine now. I got the information I needed from the attached link.

    Hope this helps

Is the door closed properly? We bought a fridge once that had a really deep compartment on the door so we filled it those big 4 pint milk cartons, lots of orange juice etc. However this caused the door to drop slightly at the end away from the hinges and not give a good seal. I was told that if the fridge light doesn't turn off when the door shuts then the cooling mechanism doesn't restart. We had to put a wedge of cardboard under the dropped door end to get the light to switch off.
