Lamby at bed time..People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

He's a cute little chap.
Will you be getting him a friend for company? It's very cruel not to.
Also, you will have to wait several months at least before he's big enough for meat - by that time he'll be quite big and will be producing lots more poop, as well as being quite boisterous! I reckon the lanolin in his wool might be messy indoors too...
He looks a healthy wee thing though!0 -
We do have all wooden floors so its quite easy to clean up and hes done most of his business outside, Ive given him grass but I also have wild rocket growing and hes keeps trying to eat that instead, I happy to let him eat as much as he likes but wonderd if its ok for him to eat it, its very mild and crunchy we use it as a salad leaf.?People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

Oh he is lovely, I love lambs - both in the field and in the oven0

Not sure on rocket, I imagine it cannot be as good as grass - maybe ok as a treat.
Have you got an agricultural/equestrian/country store nearby? If so you could buy him a sack of creep feed/lamb pellets, he'll need weaning soon. They are less than a tenner for 25kg.0 -
A Lamb and a swimming pool, how incongruous lol.
I have visions of a playboy lamb, sunning himself by the pool. That is, until the bbq comes out......
I don't feel strongly either way, we eat the lamb from my parents land but they are there to graze, not as pets. My children are made aware of what they are eating. It's not something I could do but admire your determination ... and spit roast lamb tastes soooo good.
just saw the pic - he's cute!0 -
i have visions of the op and her daughter sitting around the kitchen table, mouths and lips watering as they stare at little lamby, saying, right you are going to be lamb stew on monday, tuesday lamb burgers, oh and then yummy spit roast on the weekend,
and as we eat every thing and not fussy, the goldfish on sunday as a treat:eek:0 -

Julie. Did I see a post of your's where you had a surplus of mint? Or you were helping someone out with the same? Begs the question.
Is Lamby the answer?0 -
It had to be wealthy North London! Why not take it to your childs school and educate them where meat comes from? You could even let them watch it being slaughtered. So you took the lamb from a farmer and as you know nothing about caring for it, could have asked farmer or done an internet search, you ask on a pets forum. Are you so short of money you need this or are you so keen to 'educate' your child? Let's hope your 'rough love' teaching works out and your child goes 'yum yum mummy..... I love Larry' as she eats him otherwise she may be very upset and if the school finds out the matter could go further. Perhaps 'Blue Peter' could do a story on Larry.
You got an abusive post, not from me, but I feel someone needs to say your post is very insensitive for a PETS FORUM! You even showed a picture of him...... the mind boggles. There are links to a Bunny forum in the bunny threads on here, I'll go on one and ask about the best way to butcher 'fluffy' for dinner..... hope I don't get an abusive post.0
