My father in law is a butcher so no thats not a problem, we have lots of land and grass in the garden so thats not a problem either, just thought it might be nice to take him to the park with my little girl but thats why Ive asked in serval places first. I ve been giving him cows milk with a baby bottle thats what I ment, as I was told to by the farmer.
I could quite easily " turn this cuddly little lamb into something that can be cooked and eaten I can only imagine" errrr ME.
.Because a chicken isnt cute its ok to keep and kill them to eat..??
Its food when you tuck into my portion of lamb cutlets at least ill know where its came from, hes had a good bath, been blow dried and is sitting next to me on the sofa, just had his luch time milk and now he is asleep. We made a masive box for him with a soft floor and a blanket which he slept in all lastnight.
I let him outside this morning he did his business and then came straight back in!People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

I swear I've awoken in a parallel universe today having read some of the things I have today on this forum!! Unbelievable!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Thought it would be good for my daughter to learn about food an animals, hes drinking all the milk the farmer has given me basic instruction I just wonderd if any one had any extra good advice.
Just going back to this post, alarm bells are ringing in my head here.
Farmers don't kill baby lambs just because their mum has died. They will give it to another foster sheep to raise if possible. If this lamb is from a meat herd then the farmer isn't going to give away potential profit either.
Something doesn't add up here. He would also have to account for the whereabouts of the lamb in his official record keeping documents for DEFRA. You can't just "give" a newborn lamb to a non-farming member of the public!Juliepink26 wrote: »My father in law is a butcher so no thats not a problem......
Does he have a licence to slaughter though?
ETA: Cut short my post as interrupted by the phone.
What breed is this sheep? You need to know whether it's worthwhile jumping through all the hoops to do this legally.... you are intending to do it legally I assume? ... when you might have something that is only bred for it's wool value :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

My father in law yes he does slaughter well, regarding that end its all coverd, all family are cooks, own resturants go hunting regulary and have all the aporate licences etc. Ive eatern them hundreds of times from the same farmer, we cook them on the spit greek style, just this time I wanted to look after him and fattern him up a bit before we eat him !People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...
