I received an email from Southern railway, which claims they have 20% off but they only seem to be normal Advance ticket prices.
Anyone got train discounts to Scotland? It's sooo expensive.0 -

You could try East Coast Trains as they give a 10% discount on their Advance fares bought online and they service trains via Newcastle to Scotland.
Or Virgin trains via Carlisle to Scotland, you can get a 10% discount on their Advance fares if you buy online with a Virgin Credit card.
Or if you gives us a few more details ie; From, To, Number of people, preferred travel dates or if dates flexible and any railcards held I'm sure someone on the forum will help find a cheaper fare.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

It said...- Save 20% on Southern Advance ticketsAre the 20% Off Southern Advance tickets available online for all UK rail journeys?
No, they are limited to journeys taken on a Southern train only.
Sadly, that is not the case.0 -
Just wanted to check about prices for an adult and child with a F and F railcard from Glasgow to London in October. It's a journey which I've down twice before, but prices seem to have increased a lot.
I'm sure that last year I paid £75 for the tickets, but the cheapest I can see are £103 return - am looking at travelling in 12 weeks time. Can any helpful person let me know if this is really the best?0 -

Without exact dates this will be a random search (3rd/4th Oct), but what you could do is book via the East Coast Website and in the 'more options' put 'Edinburgh' this will give you a journey from Glasgow Queens Street to Edinburgh to London bit longer but with prices available @ £14.05 one way (1x adult,1xchild F&F railcard and including 10% East Coast online discount)
You can go direct from Central this way with no change of train, but there is only one train a day the 06:50 out and the 15:30 back.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Celebrate Team GB's success
They win, you win!
London Midland is celebrating Team GB’s hugely successful performance at the 2012 Games by offering you massive discounts on rail tickets based on Great Britain’s final gold medal haul.
How it works
The good news is that If you already have an online ticket account with London Midland, you don't need to do anything. If not, just click this link to register before Wednesday 15 August 2012.
On 15 August, we will send an email to everyone on our database, which will include an exclusive discount code to buy a range of Off-Peak and Advance tickets, including 1st class.
Tickets must be used between 15 August and 2 September (although the return leg of off-peak returns can be up to a month later).
How much is the discount?
For every gold medal that Team GB wins, we'll be reducing prices by 1%, so 25 gold medals will lead to a 25% discount off all 'London Midland only' Advance and longer distance Off-Peak Return fares. You can keep up with the latest medal tally here.
If you have a Railcard, your Railcard discount is in addition to the London Midland reduction, which means that thousands of people could be saving at least 50% off their travel!

Many thanks for that.
So it looks like it will be 29% off which is good.0 -

It was slightly annoying that the only way to get this £10 e-voucher was to create a new account. (I realise that it could be used from an already existing account, but you have to put it through with a ticket booking - I have no travel plans at present!) Thankfully I have multiple email addresses so just created a new one. Looking forward to getting that confirmation email that it's all gone through!Aqua cashback card - used regularly, paid off in full every month
