Could weaning be causings C's sleepless nights?

She has been having porridge/fromage frais/banana for about three days now and last night was awake (and screaming when I put her down) every half hour. I slept on the floor of the nursery with her in the end (king size mattress waiting to be cut up WAS in the spare room - now gone so OH can have spare room and C can come in with me if needs be tonight) and she slept ok then.

She has just (tried for an hour at normal bedtime of 7pm) refused to go down and has had a dirty nappy {highlight in case anyone eating} with real brown solids bits in it mixed in with the curry sauce. I'm sure the new bit is normal but could this also be affecting her sleep a lot? Would Calpol help (though she spits it out!!).

    Thanks for any experiences :o

the most obvious thing at her age for not sleeping/screaming is teething. I would rule this out before I thought about anything else.
Kieren is on his 3rd bout of teething and has no teeth out yet so they can be teething with no teeth. (Although teeth that were previously almost out have gone! How strange!)
K is always unsettled at night with teeth so now he gets calprofen last thing and a teething powder and off he goes.
He cannot get to sleep at all when his gums hurt no matter how tired he is:( Which is why I was up since 5.30am, he was awake enough for gums to throb and wouldn't go back down

    Thanks NMS

We've been doing breakfast and dinner (or lunch if ya posh) and so the lastest is about 2pm afternoon. I did wonder about giving her something at tea time ish but I was worried it might sit on her stomach so haven't done that yet - hoping to avoid the problem we seem to have now :o

That would be a cool thing to be immune too. If my daughter reproduces and they go onto reproduce etc etc maybe we will erradicate chickenpox. Do I get my nobel yet :D ?

I didn't even know you could get it symptomless. Not very up to date on childhood illnesses. She's had parvo before....

See you caz, I want some chips now!!!

    I'm scared

I have Elliot in my room with me for the first time, I'm scared I won't be able to look after him on my own.

Stuart just left and I cried for 20 minutes.

I am missing him so much, since I had Elliot Ive had a massive surge of love for OH. Thats not to say I didn't love him before, but when I was pregnant I couldn't be bothered wih any of it relationship wise, now I feel so much love I did't think it was possible. Has anyone else felt that?

Do I watch the new startrek DVD or wait and watch it with DH later in the week?
  • Aw Kindof - nice to hear from you - BIG HUGS! You'll be fine hun - honest. Don't forget you can always come and ask any questions on here - there is usually someone around to help ;)

Jam - was just wondering if the food was sitting heavy on her tummy, but I would say not as she has it a good few hours before bed. Maybe try the calpol or the teething powders if these work I would say it's teeth :D

Aw, I'm so glad you have him next to you! The complete and utter bewilderment is normal and it fades eventually. Well, you just start to wing it and act like you have half a clue of knowing what your doing.

And yes, I had that with DH. I was blubbing to him that I loved him loads and loads after I had DS1, swore blind it was the drugs, but then it happened again after DS2 and after Amber. All those things they say about how having a baby hits you in ways can't ever imagine are true.

Don't be scared! You will be fine!

    How are you both now?

Yep, I felt just like that too! I was euphoric (sp) for a good few weeks after the birth and had much love for OH and K!

    Thanks both

We started with the C&G porridge stuff, then added nana (as a seperate meal, not in the porridge) and then the ff. We did try her with the porridge and nana about a month ago but she just jammed her mouth shut so left it til now and tried again. She eating it better (still only very small amounts) but just got the sleep issue.

Could also be teeth, just don't know and hoping for a half decent sleep:(. She goes to sleep fine while latched on (until tonight) but as soon as I put her in her cot, she wakes and screams. I tried cc last night but the second time she made herself sick with screaming (she never been sick before) so I gave up on that.

It's just strange - she sleeps if I'm next to her but not in her cot. She was ok ish in her cot for a month or six weeks but now she's getting worse than ever.

Is the general consensus Calpol/Calprofen then (for either reason) and see what happens? Don't like giving her medicines really but if 'we' think it will help.....
