Susan - not sure, really. I actually had sworn all through my undergrad that you couldn't pay me enough money to do postgrad but then as I was in the 2nd half of my 3rd year I realised that I wasn't finished yet...had been doing a massive Holocaust-related project and it clicked that it was something I very passionate about (learning about it, that is) so I looked and found one of the few Holocaust Studies courses in Britain (since I knew I wanted to come back here to study) that was from a history viewpoint rather than a Jewish Studies one (I think there were only 3 in the country anyways).

I guess the shorter answer was because I find it all really, really interesting but can't really explain why (as most people think it's a rather odd topic to study).

And yes it is a 100% useless degree that put me $18,500 in debt but I don't regret it :o:o
I think it is interesting too. (And I can't say that my Chemistry degree turned out to be that useful either and certainly wasn't as interesting.)

eta: nothing that others haven't said other than hugs for you, weezl. Glad to hear everything's okay now and I think talking about it with the MW will definitely help you form a clear picture in your mind so you can come to terms with whatever problems there were more easily. Glad you, Kester, Fergie & DH are all okay and sound happy :)

I did a History degree specialising in German-Jewish history, Aless. Where did you do your MA? My university, Southampton, is very big on Holocaust studies, although I don't know if they offer an MA in it. I never really investigated post-grad courses.

Henry's 4 month jabs haven't really agreed with him. He has been hot and bothered all day, so much so that I've skipped the NCT meeting I was supposed to go to tonight as I didn't want to leave my baby boy :o.

Weezl- I can't see your picture, but I feel certain it is very, very cute :D. I'm sorry things got scary for you, but I'm very glad it all ended well.

GISI, I did my MA at Royal Holloway, Uni of London. It was a brand new program in 2006 so it's either crashed and burned by now or is thriving :p.

Susan (and GISI too!), if you tell me what particular aspect you're interested in, I might be able to recommend some good books I've come across in my studies. Or maybe not if you're into aspects that I wasn't...;) (I was going to shamelessly post a link to my published undergrad dissertation online, but that would be REALLY big-headed of me)

    YES!!!!! Great news!!!

Weezl, do take up the offer of the debrief, you are still wrapped up in hormones right now, but once they go the small details may start to hit home.

SS, the birthtrauma site is really good and the can email you for support.
