Just to share the weaning worry burden ...... I'm not sure we're having heaps of success here either ;) Andrew took to it quickly, then went backwards and refused everything (letting it drop out of his mouth), now he's taking some but is disinterested again. Still cannot really grab and manouvre things to his mouth, so BLW not an option yet. He'll take about a dozen tips-of-weaning-spoon of a main meal, and half a dozen tips-of-spoon of mushed fruit or fromage frais as pudding; breakfast is a quarter weetabix and he doesn't finish that.

It's harder for me to get a handle on how much he should be eating, as he's so tiny compared to the average weaning baby, and presumably has a tiny stomach too. I feed him until he looks like he's bored with the process. I'm terribly wary of him gagging as not only does the food come back but so does a flood of milk.

thanks jam, fitzio and tigs :)

i posted the 20 weaning spoonfuls as that is the most he has ever took. usually struggle past 5. anything will go in his mouth apart from food on the spoon.

like i said in my OP, he did suck the sauce of my pizza crust last night so after chatting to DH before, i've decided to just do this every evening. put a little of what i/we are having on his highchair tray. and see where we go from there.

so tonight will be a few chips and some chicken, maybe a carrot stick or 2.

i know he will get there eventually, just taking his time.

thank you everyone who has shared so far :) it is very much appreciated.

    will keep you informed :)

Found my keys.. under the sofa seat cushion, obviously!  :o

We've been for a walk. It's all paved paths here so I don't think the bumpiness was exactly helping Rhys sleep (not that it is nap time!), so I walked on the (cul-de-sac!) road on the way back and he's fast off in the hallway now :)

We only weaned Rhys properly at 26wks corrected, he wasn't really interested before then despite the docs etc going on to get him onto something with more calories. When we started properly we didn't give him anything runny - he hated yoghurt (still not keen) and the 4mth stage jars because they just run out his mouth. He's always preferred something with a bit of substance to it like mashed potato. Maybe that would help someone else.. *shrug* :)

That's one job crossed of the birthday list, I've just ordered all the food from Asda and as a bonus there was a free delivery e-voucher waiting for me of check out.

It's all arriving Friday night so just need to empty the fridge to store it all in.

Hugs for all those with weaning issues.

Katie has just crumbled up a pitta bread all over her play kitchen, so that's something to look forward too.

Right need to move my butt and finish this weeks shopping off at Morrisons.

See you all in a bit.

Think we're getting somewhere with getting Tahlie to take a dummy now. Changed brand and now she'll suck away for a min or two before spitting it out!

Gettin pee'd off with my breast pads moving and then when my boobs leak ending up wet patches :( even the sticky tabs do nothing. So tired atm really need a nap but that's not gonn happen for more than a few minutes before OH gets noisy.

Managed to feed somewhere other than at home, admittedley was oy the inlaws but it a start x
