GPs don't recommend using soya-based formula milk because it contains a substance called phytoeostrogen. This mimics the action of a hormone (chemical in your body) called oestrogen and this may mean your child's long-term reproductive health is at risk. Always speak to your GP or health visitor before using soya-based formulas as they should only be used in exceptional circumstances

tbh i was surprised that my cousin just went and changed to soya milk without speaking to GP or HV as all things i had read said only to do so on their advise. but they think it has worked.
i would defo try soem colief though, its the more expensive but does seem to work.
also try holding elliott higher up so he's not as flat.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Abi had reflux and my nephew has a milk protein allergy and we were both told not to use it and that doctors were trying to get it banned! There is a milk called nutramagin(sp?) that is reccomended. If a child has a reaction to milk then they will more than likely have a reaction to soya as it contains the same milk proteins! What's for you won't go past you0

oops I thanked a weird post.
Kindof, sounds like you're having a hard time, hope something works. I'd change the milk, but I'm sceptical on how the anti colic bottles work... but luckily I've not had a baby with bad colic, infacol has been enough for Amber.
Just waiting on the kids going to sleep then I can escape back outside for a while.0 -
I was trying to pimp my pushchair, found it, and delayed telling you about it till I'd ordered mine

It's like 92% off or something ridiculous.
:rotfl:Its like me with the MS - I always make sure I've booked my own jobs before I tell anyone else there are jobs available.
Whats with random people posting just to get their post counts up
They only do it so they can post links.
Kindof - Did you give the Infacol a good week before you switched to Gripe Water?
It can take a week before any change takes effect, I know its hard but it is worth waiting a week for things to work before trying something else. I've been there.
If you find the Gripe Water doesn't work then I would really suggest the Comfort milk as a next step. I had to use Infacol for a week, then try the Comfort milk, then the GP gave us Gaviscon which didn't work cos at the time he didn't have reflux, back to Infacol and we finally got somewhere.
You can also try winding him before you feed him, feed him so he's sitting up abit, let him spit the bottle out before you wind him. Some MWs say you should wind after each oz but this can give them more wind taking the bottle in and out.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
oh, kindof, do you have a vibrating bouncy chair? apparently they can help with colic pain. And if you don't and you happened to have something in the house that had a vibrating action... well it worked in sex and the city.0

Kindof I second the colief suggestion, my cousins DS was near hysterical daily with colic and they tried all sorts. They tried him on this and it made a huge difference, they managed to get it on prescription too as it is expensive but worth it if it works.Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0

KOAG
We had exactly the same with C when she was about 4 weeks old and it was awful. She was/is BF. I took her to docs to check there was nothing wrong (cos I was convinced she had a blockage of some kind!) and he said her stomach felt fine. Like you, I always said it was when she needed to trump and couldn't. We massaged her stomach and found Gripe water to be best for us (couldn't use the Coeleif as it needs to go into the bottles).
All I can offer is sympathy cos it's awful hearing them cry. C would scream for about three hours every night, starting from 6-7 ish but always stopped at ten pm on the dot for some strange reason. The only thing that stopped her was carrying her up and down the living room on her back with her head hanging backwards! Killed your arms though and she started again, even if she was asleep, as soon as you sat down!
I remember saying to my OH 'It's supposed to stop (colic) at 12 weeks so only another 8 weeks to go/7 weeks to go etc'. One day, it stopped as suddenly as it started, about 4 weeks after it began.
It's horrible going through it but hang on in there, it will get better.
Big hugs to ya xxxMy baby girl :kisses3: September 09 :heartsmil0 -
Thanks for all the advice

Jillie what colief??? (edit just seen Boofellys post) yeah we feed him sitting up with his head back just a little bit
Tia - Yeah thats my next step after these bottles, (NT on facebook swears by these bottles, so thought I would give them a bash)
Glam - Yeah we did, he was onto his second bottle of infacol and to be honest he has got worse as the week went on
He usually gets winded after the first ounce, then he will have two more ounces and get winded, then sometimes not all times he will have the last ounce and he will get winded again
Tia - we do but no batteries, funnily enough I was saying this to OH cos he is fine if he is sitting up cos his pumps and burps if he has any hiding in there lol work their way out but he screams if you lay him flat, so I was saying we shold get batteries for the bouncer cos he likes the vibrating motion and he isnt laying flat so might help
Boogelly ah right cool I might mention it to dr then
On a side note, should elliot be having a 6 week check up? just he hasnt got an appointment yet
