ooh K actually ate loads at brekkie. had baby rice mixed with apple/pear puree and ate all that i made for him. bout 20 weaning spoonfuls. hope, finally he's cottoned on to food. i gave him the crust of my pizza last night (sauce and a bit of cheese) and he sucked all the sauce and cheese of it and ate a bit of the crust. so am going to give him a bit of my tea tonight too. will offer his food as well. he's just drained a 7oz bottle as well :D

havent posted about it before on here, but we have been struggling with weaning and everyone we have talked to/met seems to have breezed through weaning so have been lurking on a few other w/site forums to get ideas of how to make it easier.

jillie, Dylan didnt eat till he was nearly 7 1/2 months and I think Samis Ed could have been about the same age !! Just because 'they' say 6 months, not all of them are ready at that point, but will get there eventually :)

Jillie, we're weaning really slowly because Molly enjoys the eating but prefers the boob so she's not always interested in food - do whatever works for you and remember that he isn't going to need a bottle by the time he starts school and any time before that is fine ;)

Jillie, they get to a point where they eat. Up till 1year old they mainly need milk, food is for playing with. Don't worry about it, I've yet to see a Primary one turn up to school with bottles of milkies, a dummy, a blankie and demanding to go home to mummy at lunch for a breast feed (not saying they don't do that at home!).

Yesterday Amber was sitting next to DH's necies daughter who is 1yr 3 months. Her mum is sitting giving her tiny little bits off food, Amber is shoving a whole sandwich in her mouth! They all develop at different rates for EVERYTHING.

thanks mm. and everyone else too. have been telling myself that but it wasnt working.

a few ladies i know (one with children all my age) kepy saying when he was 4 months why i hadnt started to give him food. and then proceeded to say that all her children and grandchildren took to food no problem etc...

HV also told me that as K had put 2oz on in 2 weeks it was obvious that he wasnt getting enough from his milk and he should be eating loads.... not been back since

thanks for everyones comments. took so long to post (phone call and nappy change) others had posted but had only quoted mm's

Well.. it isn't a race to see who can wean fastest soonest.. so work at his pace..

Miine were 8 weeks, 6 months, 8 months, 4 months, 10 months, 12 months, 11 months and 7 months.. before they had ANYTHING other than milk.. HUGE variation based ontheir needs and stages of development..

Babies don't actually NEED food until they are a year old anyway!!
