Virtually undetectable shilling is easy to implement - and if your too lazy or thick to do this then you deserve a roasting

Any chance of a few pointers please?
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.

    no chance
I'd get eaten alive if I posted anything like that on here.
Sure you can figure it out - I of course assume this is purely to satisfy your curiosity ;+)

although maybe I should put an ebook together, "The Perfect Shill" sounds like a catchy title.

Yeah, maybe it could be one of those 1p ebooks that could be used to boost feedback .
I notice you are a new member ; did you know the option of PM ing is available?
About this `virtually undetectable shilling ` does that include goofbay tools?
No point advertising your ebook on this thread though as most of the posters on here know everything anyhow !
ps . not sure if Im lazy or thick or both . Never had any complaints so far but perhaps that was more luck than management

  • In real auctions the auctioneer often uses bids “off the wall” to move things along.

My local auction house (Peacocks in Bedford) actually has written into their T&C something like “……the auctioneer may bid on behalf of the seller…..”

Seems very similar (as in identical) to shilling. I suspect that legally it’s not illegal, in reality it is no different to having a formal reserve.

The problem is that it distorts the fees system on Ebay which I suspect is why it is against their rules.

Moving on and assuming things have a value then an interesting philosophical point is…….

As an Ebay buyer you have to make a guess as to the value……some guesses will be too low, some will be spot on and some will be too high but the “too high” guess will be the one that wins the auction, does it therefore follow that all Ebay buyers have paid too much?
