Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me.
The situation is.... I've just got a free I-Phone on upgrade from Orange, however im happy with my current phone as im not really into gadgets. As long as my phone can text and I can talk on it I don't care what it does really.
So i'm pretty skint at the moment and was looking at selling it on ebay. However as im new to ebay and im selling an iphone will other ebayers give me a wide birth or should I get a friend to sell it on there ebay account as at least then they will have some feedback history etc.

Selling via a freind sounds better....but be aware, there are fees to pay and i expect you will get 150..00 for it...well ebay want 10% of that plus listing fees and final value fees.......so make sure your freind will not be out of pocketNever put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0

Personally I would sell it via Gumtree or similar local ads, that way you get to avoid paying sellng fees, the buyer has to collect in person and pay cash.0 -
I've been an ebay member for over 6 years but recently set up a new account in order to seperate buying and selling. (but using same paypal account) On my new account, any payments i got over £20 were placed on e hold for 21 days by paypal, yet i still had to pay the postage myself (couriers -costing more than item sales!) this is because i have a low feedback score. Apparently the money can be released earlier when buyer leaves pos feedback, only 1 of by buyers has left feedback so far for the 2 items the payments were on hold for - and she left the feedback 23 days after the sale so i had to wait the full 21 days for the payments! (annoying - i too only sold the items because i was a bit skint at the time and ended up worse off that week anyway because i had to pay the couriers to post the 2 items out of my own pocket while the paypal payments were trapped in cyberspace!!)
Like someone else said, tryigumtree or local classifieds first, mobile phones can also attract dodgy buyers and scammers aswell on ebayIf google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
I agree, place an ad on gumtree and you will be overwhelmed with the response! It is probably the best and most wanted phone out at the minute, so don't be afraid to put a moderately high price on it, as it will mostly reach it. Just watch out, you will get a few emails from people wanting you to send it to a foreign country and they will offer to pay you generously for it, if you give them your paypal asap, clearly a scam.0

Hi Everyone thanks for your comments.
Ive put it on my friends ebay account now, so ill be able to bid on it from my own ebay account to bump up the price etc.
Its an apple iphone and they seem to be going for 300.00 quid plus, if I can get that or more ill be happy
However ill make sure my friend is not out of pocket though during the process.
I did not think about gumtree or anything like that ill have to bare that in mind for future.

I doubt she is, she seems to have read through the posts giving her advice and then completely ignored it.
Maybe we should run a sweepstake as to how long it will be before she is back on the forum with a transaction problem related to selling the phone, my money is on her falling for a 404 scam.0 -

My money is on a falling out between friends within a few weeks. Hopefully the friend has more sense than to go along with this rather dodgy practice.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
