I was going to start selling on Ebay until the arrival of all the scamsters - I've got a few things I want rid of put not prepared to put them on Ebay and end up with the Paypal payment being reversed. Then the increase in fees has further put me off.

There is no way I would put an Iphone on Ebay - just asking for trouble because scamsters especially seem to pick on low feedback people selling high value items that get "lost" in the post or arrive "damaged".

I have sold over 650 items on ebay over the past 5 years and never been scammed, there have always been scammers on eBay, it really depends on what you are selling, how careful you are to make sure you dot your I's and cross your T's when providing information on your listing, scammers are like wolves preying on sheep they spot easy targets when they see mistakes in listings.

I never list anything too expensive, usually £25 is the most I sell anything for, anything more exspensive and I use the small ads.

So don't be put off selling on eBay it can be a good way to sell nick nacks.

Spending time on this forum is a good way to learn the pitfalls to stay clear off.

As long as you follow the seller protection rules and set your seller preferences tight and use a little common sense. The chances of being scammed or losing money are low. 99% of buyers are honest ( I wouldn't be selling otherwise). Forums like this and the ebay community boards highlight the minority of problems that happen. The amount of daily transactions that pass with no problem greatly out weigh the problematic ones.

I've been selling for years both cheap and very expensive items with few problems that aren't easily sorted

Despite what some sellers seem to think every buyer isn't a scammer

I agree virtually all buyers are good and honest, on here you only hear about the dodgy ones. I've probably done 10,000 or more sales now and I have only definitely come across 2 scammers one who got the better of me and one who did not.

The OP came on to the forum looking for advice about selling the phone on eBay, they suggested they had not yet listed it, then later made it clear that the had already listed it so asking for advice was pointless and a waste of the time of anyone who had offered it.

Selling on Gumtree gets you the maximum price possible for your item without having any fees or having to sell it at a lower price to guarantee that a third party like CEX can then sell on for a higher price.

Actually at the point of post the item was not listed and .i hadnt checked the forum again until after it was listed

However im pleased to confirm the item is no longer listed as ive taken it off as someone offered me £380.00 for an off ebay deal via ebay.

The buyer has sent the money direct to my bank account and all is great. :D

So we can all now take a deep breath and relax :)

The thread title says it all. The OP hasn't got a clue about Ebay.

Personally I would sell it to CEX and get the cash. They are pretty good.

Your right i have not got a clue about ebay its been an awful experience never again lol.

Least im £380.00 quid better off now and not had to pay a penny to ebay or paypal etc
