Hello friends!
Another dilema......................
Nan (of 90) selling up, house is in final stage of sale at the moment, but she's hit another problem. The solicitor wants proof of ID from her, they requested either a driving licence or passport. One major problem as she has neither!
Her passport ran out about 10 years ago (if not longer) and she has never held a driving licence.
Are there any other forms of id she can give. (estate agent not being too helpful on this)
Thanks for your help.

Cant she show her birth certificate or benefits book ?
Its a pain this sort of thing. I remember a mate of mine had problems as his mother never married and so she didnt have a "maiden name" this was som years ago though.
Surely the deeds of her house would be adequate amount of ID
Been wondering about the situation too love, how goes it? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

HI lynz,
just got off plane by couple of hours to all this!
Not sure how the land lies with the rest at the moment, recieved paperwork through, so got to sit and look at it!.
Too many things going on at once.
Apparently the birth certificate is no good as its not photo id, neither are the utility bills that she gave.
So i though i'd come here and get the best advice!
HELP.....................I feel like im going completely insane (and its not even me moving! LOL)

Ask the solicitor if they will accept various forms of recognised proof of address such as utility bills, bank statements, local authority tax bill, notification letter relating to benefits/state pension.
When the money laundering regulations came in for EA's I was unable to source photo id for a seller, same reasons as stated by yourself, rang the helpline that was around at the time & was told if I had 4-5 of the above items & could accept those as proof. It may well be different for you solicitor.0 -
Acceptable items for evidence of name in accordance with JMLG rules are are passport, identity card, driving licence, firearms/shotgun licence, state pension or benefits book/notification letter, sub-contractors certificate or inland revenue tax notification.
In this case, the state pension or benefits book would almost certainly be the easiest.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Letters to the claimant sometimes have the same effect ie the letter that says how much she is due PW etc?
Poor you Squibbs- well you know where I am if you need anything else- I fear I might have confused you though:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
