refused double the difference back when overcharged at tesco

i went to tesco today and the sign on shelf said 3 for £2 so got 3 shampoo and 3 conditiner, when i paid it all went through at full price £28.80 for the 6 instead of £4 so went to customer services and had to wait for a manager to come then he went off for ages and came back and said he would refund the money i was over charged £24.80 so i pointed to the Our Promise sign which was right next to us about the double the difference and he said there was no way he would give me dtd and the products so i only got what i was overcharged and a £5 gift card as a good will gesture.
so can i do anything else about this or as he was the manager is that it ????

Ring head office up, You should have refused the £5 gift card and refund and asked to ring head office up there and then.

I guess some people are just morons.

This sounds like there is obviously some kind of pricing error with the system somewhere. What you're saying is that you want Tesco to pay you twenty odd quid to take their shampoo? If I was the manager it would have been a swift refund, apology, and shown the door.

Seriously, some people expect too much. As it stands, Tesco still paid you a £1 to take their products....yet you're still moaning?

Not only this, did you not notice that your bill was £20 more than what it should have been when you checked out? I could kind of understand if it was a huge shop, but I reckon you're just trying it on. Well done to the manager, they probably get scrubs doing this a lot.

Course there is. They make them often. That's why they've made various price error policies over the years.

That's what Tesco are saying they will do in these circumstances. There's no exceptions that say 'unless we end up giving you money'.

Then they shouldn't make these promises if they're not going to honour them unless they feel like it.

I see Proc's point but Bongedone is right - tesco created this policy, they advertised this policy and they shouldn't be able to pick and choose when they follow it.

No, they stopped the policy of a full refund, and changed it to double the difference.

When did this new policy come in?
