JSA Disallowed

Basically got my JSA suspended for 2 weeks for missing an appointment for steps to work for telling the truth ie I got it mixed up with a training organization the day after my appointment which was worded as a steps to work. I also received no letter telling me of this appointment only that I missed it (the only letter I received was from the training company not the jobcentre).

I literally can't make ends meet on this any more from Tuesday of the 2nd week since I got my benefits I'm flat broke. I've gave up drinking smoking and basically everything, I just sit around trying not to spend any money but it never works.

Now I've been told I'm not getting any money for 2 weeks I literally can't even afford to travel to the jobcentre and I've no family to bail me out. What the heck am I supposed to do here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Getting 'mixed up' does not constitute good cause, never being informed of the appointment does.

You could apply for hardship payments

I am constantly amazed at the people who manage to completely miss important appointments. It is not a big ask - you get free money in return for attending the job centre once a week or so. Even though you didn't receive a letter, you were told about this appointment right? You could have written it down?

However, it has happened. Have you considered a crisis loan?

Or that they get the letter about their JSA being sanctioned just not the letter for the original appointment.
    *SIGH*

How could you have "got it mixed up" if you "received no letter" ?

Sorry but I think you're going to have to get by.

The steps to work appointments are once a month, sometimes I get phoned to be told that, sometimes a letter, and sometimes told on my signing day at the jobcentre.

Ugh not really in the mood for the condescending tone, your probably far to ugly to be my mother (no offence) let alone talk to me like my mother.

I was thinking about that yes, I've had one before though and I think I got £9.21p to live off for a week lol, I don't think I say the right things at these places :)

A crisis loan should not be paid if you are being sanctioned.
