er, i think they'll be pretty up there. a severe hpc would impact on every area of the economy / society.
The UK has had a few severe hpcs in my lifetime.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

i understand the issue with the CML - it's a bit of a political game with them as they are shouting about this because their member don't want the extra capital requirements that will be implemented. which as you say if they are implemented it will reduce the amount of money that they can lend.
the capital requirments are going to be watered down or implemented gradually and not at the level that are being shouted about otherwise it will freeze the money markets again. it's just not going to happen.
you've taken the worst case scenario and expecting it to happen without any other options.
It's actually two separate issues, refinancing the £300 billion in govt funding and the reduction in money to lend from the proposed increase in capital requirements. To the contrary young padawan. One might assume the government wants sterling to devalue.
Of course. But how far do they want it to devalue, to nothing? It's already lost 25% vs the dollar from the price in late 2008 and the outlook still looks bearish. It's lost even more vs the euro, in fact it's depreciated against every major currency except the Zimbabwean dollar.
A cheap pound is great for our manufacturers, but not great for many people's lifestyles, considering all the imported products we consume.0 -

Yes we will, but I get the feeling that it is going to be a lot harder this time.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

i saw lord turner is suggesting a "carbon tax" on products from outside the eu. even better.
we've got to stop relying on cheap foreign labour to sustain our lifestyles anyway.
a bit of make do and mend wouldn't do us any harm. pretty mse too. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0
