Mummytogirls - 100 years to be debtfree - I think not!

Morning diary,
Well I need to start by apologising as ive not told you exactly everything from the start.
Basically DH knew nothing about the debt but it all got too much over the weekend and I ended up telling him.
This is the best thing I have ever done, im very ashamed of keeping this all from him. Thing is things got too big and worse and then telling him became harder and harder.
DH was of course completely shocked and disappointed that I kept this from him for 3 years. He is also sorry for me that I felt I couldnt tell him and also had to deal with all this on my own.
Not a single person knew only you guys reading my diary knew anything about it. This was one of the reasons why I started my dairy so I could 'speak' to people in similar positions.
So today I so feel very sad that this is now affected DH aswell, he didnt sleep very well last night, whereas I probably had the best nights sleep in about 2 years!
I also feel very relieved that I dont have to rush home for the post now to stop him finding anything.
We are still working through what we can pay off where and now ive got him onboard so to speak we can see where we can cut back further and throw everything we have into paying this off.
This morning has been a spend day as we needed a headlight on the car. So that was £3.50 as appose to a fine if the police stop me.
Took £20 this morning, bought the bulb and then put £16.50 into petrol which should hopefully last us til payday next Tuesday.
Will update more when I can x xMummytogirls x0 -
Feeling even more sh!tty this afternoon. DH just phoned me to say hes managed to sell his motor bike so has gone home to get the paperwork.
I know ive got a good one and he wants to get sorted but I am absolutely gutted that the one thing I know he really enjoys he cant have now as a result of me.
Gutted xMummytogirls x0 -
Oh no, sounds like you need a :grouphug:and a cup of tea:coffee:.
Sounds like a really stressful weekend but as you say you feel better now that the secret is out in the open. Glad the OH reacted so well, of course it's going to be a shock for him but remember that debt is pretty common. If he reads papers, watches news, etc he'll know that too.
He doesn't need to sell the motorbike though. The debt doesn't need to be paid off immediately even if it is very supportive of him.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -
Thanks Mags, I really appreciate your post and support.
DH is very anti debt so will do anything he can to irradicate it! The bike has now gone and we have a cheque to put in the bank and pay a few bits off.
Once this is all paid off I am going to save up and buy him a very big present! He more than deserves it and I love him soooo much.
So glad he obviously feels the same about me to help and be so supportive xMummytogirls x0 -
He does sound very supportive but you know what..you'll help/support him with something else at some point in the future. That's what good relationships are about. Don't worry it will be ok xTotal debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000

Oh mummy, i'm sending you big hugs, its good that you have told hubby and are dealing with it together, hopefully with him onboard you will have it paid off in no time and can then enjoy life.
He sounds like an absolute star.0 -
Morning Pennywise, thank you very much for you post. It means a lot to feel supported.
Well today is the best ive felt in a few days. A good friend of mine popped round last night with loads of good advice which im really grateful for.
Got a cheque to pay in today and im also meeting my dad who is also helping us out a bit.
Once we have worked out where we are I will feel clearer in my head also.
Thanks again everyone x xMummytogirls x0 -
morning mummy2girls. feeling abit rough today myself, me and both kids at home with food poisoning
you did the right thing telling OH, its awful handling it on your own. when our debts started to build up hubby gave me the money from his savings account even though it was money i'd given him for his 40th to buy a kit car. felt awful about it but they do eat half the food! lolCredit Card debt £10247.17 1/1/20200 -
Afternoon Pink, OMG to the food poisoning
hope your all ok and on the mend. Do you know where you caught it?
Thanks for your support. I know in my head its the right thing re the bike but my heart feels really sad!! Im starting to feel a bit better about it now.
Well ive popped into town at lunch to bank the cheque from the bike. Hopefully this will clear for Friday and we can pay a few bits off.
My debt figure has gone up a little bit, so will update that tonight and then it will feel good to see it going down when weve used the bike money.
Today is a NSD woohoo! £10 credited from paypal today so ive drawn that out and its for tomorrows work Christmas meal drinks. I dont intend on spending that much as its through the day so il be on diet coke anyway!
Think thats its from me xMummytogirls x0 -
Morning diary,
Well feeling very positive after me and DH sat down and worked everything out until March where after a few tight months we will (should!) be back on track. I did tell DH expect something to go wrong or blow up before then to throw a spanner into the works.
I also told him about my diary on here and he had a quick read through. He felt sad again that id been going through it on my own but also very happy and positive that you guys have said what a star he sounds and what not. He said he doesnt see himself like that so when people point it out its nice iykwim :T!
Well yesterday I got a notification that £33 is being paid in tomorrow from quidco. So I will draw that out and save it towards DD's birthday which is already booked.
Think thats all from me xMummytogirls x0
