  • I used to keep ducks when I lived on a farm in Scotland,i had 3 muscovys, some call ducks ,and 4 ailsburys,
the call ducks swam away and I think a fox got the white ducks but the bigger muscovys stayed and had babys
the drake used to come up the garden path and eat the sheepdogs dinner which was cooling down on the step, and he used to poo all over the path yuk
I did like them though, what kind of ducks have you got Em
I have an allotment which I do with my dad (he does it mostly) and we have hens at the minute, theyve just started laying again fresh eggs are great

Aww that's sad that they swam away! My ducks would have to waddle down to the beach before they could do that. I'd be heartbroken! We've got two white indian runners. I liked them initially as they're nicknamed 'waddling wine bottles' :) - now i'm not so shallow and love them for what they are, they're hilarious! - and OH says the fresh eggs are fab, i've not tried them yet, silly and hypocrytical but i can't get my head around eating them.

bloomin 'eck you lot ben fair dribblin' this afternoon!

Okay lets get the boring stuff out of the way....

I recommend that all you newbies tat are not up to scratch on the tax side of things to get yourselves up to speed cos it saves pain in the long run....trust me! OH used to SE so I've done his books for about 10 years and HMRC like to change the rules when they can!!

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=30441989&postcount=2

have a look through the tax links on Joey's post. If you have an idea of what you can and can't claim then it can only help your business/money making..... and makes it easier to keep records as you go rather than sitting for days in a blind panic surrounded by meaningless bits of paper...
HMRC are helpful, they want you do do the work for them, ie tax returns that are correct, pay money when you should... they will offer advice so don;t be afraid to ask them.... the only time they do get scary is if you are really fidling the books!! Police with teeth my OH used to call 'em.

    Right next thing....

Babymoo - I;ve been thinking about your name and I would recommend that you don't make the name gothy or you are limiting your market... Take Mabel for example, she makes wedding jewellery and just so happens to have different collections but Bridal Designs will not limit her to goths, mainstream brides or even the gay market....
I like the idea of you being able to offer different collections, and bespoke ranges..... keep the idea generic, I quite like the idea of '.... *drum roll*...

    Babymoo designs

    Tis just a thought!

Now for the next on my list....

Saucy - get the docs on to the case.... call them first thing and demand to speak to the doctor, keep calling until the old bag on reception gets so fed up with you calling that she puts you through... DO NOT ACCEPT NO FOR AN ANSWER... if that doc won't help speak to another, and another.... your health is too important to let people fob you off.... There we go mummy style talking to done:D

For the crafty ones I found this on my travels that might just help.....

    HUgs, bumkicking etc where required!!

I am TL'ing AGAIN tonight... need to get rid so I can have some space...

I had a little result today though.... bought some lights from HK and forgot about the customs fees, but they must have forgot too as they landed on my doorstep this afternoon!! YAY

right then, now that I have told you off, hugs and kicked you all into submission (hang on that Amber and Mabels job.... ) I am off to the delights of TL.... I may be some time!

Em the blog doesn't have to be moneymaking if you want to just do it for the love of sharing and also can be money making in ways that are not as obvious such as just having a link to it from something else you are doing - say your barefoot books about you bit. makes you a bit more memorable and they know a bit more about you. and can link from your "for the love of it blog" to things you are doing that are moneymaking such as the barefoot books.
There are other waysof making money such as affiliates eg having links to amazon books about ducks and getting paid when someone buys. or adsense where you get paid a little bit whenever someone clicks a googl ad on your site.
You say where the ads are and they choose wht they consider to be relevant ads.
There are affiliate organistaions where you sign up and choose which of the companies they support you will have on your site. and other companies that have and manage their own afiliate scheme. barefoot books buttons on your non barefoot website/ blog or email is a way of making money through an affiliate scheme
does any of that make sense.

Ignore them - that must be jealousy. There's some small minded people out there with nothing better to do than put other people down. You're right to be proud of him x

It reminds you that there are other people 'out there' - i think of this as our place and often forget that it's a public forum!
