Yep, can enter various secure sites (like my online banking ones), it only seems to be certain sites that will not work.

Could it possibibly be an ISP problem? Only concernt is that if it is an ISP problem, I know my ISP will do nothing about it.

It could be, the only way to tell for sure is to try it on a different PC/router if you have access to one.

Is this wireless, does it do it wired?

One totally speculative thing you could try, would be to reduce the MTU setting on the router to 1400.., and try it wired if you are using wireless.

do you use https://www.ccleaner.com, if not try that.

This might give you some pointer to where the connection is failing..

I had a sililar problem when i bought a linksys router, some sites would load others would'nt.

Turned out to be the MTU settings in the router.

    Has the OP tried this?

What is the exact model number of the D-Link router?

Nope, have not tried playing with the MTU settings (will do when I get home from work though).

The model number, I think, is 604-T.

BTW I'm using wireless, have not tried to see if I can access the sites when its wired (again, will try this tonight).

Tried the MTU settings, still no luck! Don't know what to do!!! Any other suggestions?

Re MTU, tried pinging to get optimum settings and then made changes to XP and router, still no work.

    Very frustrating.

Do you know anyone else with a router, if so, plug your PC into it to prove if it is the PC, or your router/connection.

    Did you try it wired?

What mtu did you set, try it at 1400 on the router, it probably won't work, but worth a try.

You could also try turning off the firewall momentarily on the router, quick test, then back on again.

Have you tinkered with any of the firewall rules/portforwarding etc..?

Was already set at 1400. Upped it to 1500 and then tried 1520, but still no luck on either. Have also put in the registry entry (1492).

    Nope, no luck there.

Nope, and don't really know how to, but will give it a google go.

Tried it both wired and wireless
in tools ie options advanced tab is ssl2 and ssl3 ticked it is on my pc xxx

    Both ticked.

OK, so I try riding someone elses wireless connection. I can log on. So the problem is either router or ISP (I guess). Now I don't know the other person's ISP (however its a 50/50 chance as there are only two in Jersey). Anyway of finding out? Or any way of finding out what router that person is using?

Still can't log on using my router / ISP though.
