A point my husband wants me to state in every letter I intend to send....:rotfl:0 -
once you get the money write a letter to the Chief Executive detailing the issue and they will look into it for you, if the money doesnt arrive then send one any way.
I had a terrible time with my fathers Halifax account because they did not do things correctly, they even managed to mark me as being deceased on credit files when they transferred the letters from his address to mine as we both had the same first names. I couldnt even set up a mail redirect from the post office online as it flagged me as being deceased as the Post Office systems didnt check date of birth.
They will send you a letter to apologise and a cash offer for the inconvenience and distress. I told them I expect a higher sum than the bog standard offer and donation to charity and they agreed and even mess this up.0 -
Really, it all beggars belief!
Where has commonsense gone? No one seems to be able to think for themselves anymore (oops - that is generalising, apologies) but I do feel that everyone I have spoken to has to bow to a higher authority, rather than just deal with the problem themselves.
It would appear that the higher authorities have too much to do so cannot clear the backlog.
My case could and should have been sorted out within the branch, as it would have been done years ago.0 -
My OH had to prove probate with the Halifax when his mum died to access the moneyVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

My mum was executor of her Father's will, and recently his bank sent a statement saying that he had money in his account - he's been dead for several years! They (santander) told her to forget about it!?
My mum is not one for arguing, but I told her to get in touch with the ombudsman... but she hasn't.
I hope you get the £10k sorted!0 -
'My OH had to prove probate with the Halifax when his mum died to access the money'
Barclays took originals of the death certificate, grant of probate - fair enough - but the copies of utility bills, bank statements, driving licences...not to mention signatures over and over again. And having to present ourselves several times...
We began to feel like criminals.
But what I cannot get to grips with is that I have received letters from them acknowledging my mother's death...and then telling me only she can access the new account the money has been put into!
Like I said before - they are mad.0 -
You know what they say start at the top, get your sleeping bag and a tabloid newspaper / photographer and camp out in Barclays bank's chairman's office, when he asks what you are doing there.................................you came tell him and make sure you take ages about telling him as well

No - I will not be going that far! An 'adultly' worded letter of complaint hopefully will make it's mark.0
