Well found my self bored so i googled some of my debt collection agencys their websites are amazing. They honestly think they are doing a public duty by harrassing their small clients. What about the "legal" debts that banks and financial organizations turn a blind eye too, those are the real culprits that are stuffing our country. Some have advice on how to buy a franchise into their world and warn that you may be asked to collect money from elderly or ill people and that can be "difficult" but can be rewarding when money is collected on behalf of your clients. No formal qualifications are needed however full training is available. Robin Hood need not apply

mornin ann yes will taak proppa (talk properly)on here. Its just when you talk to someone from the toon (Newcastle) you get carried away like. Honestly we all dont sound like cheryl cole wish a looked like her though:( Have a look at the BBC watchdog site about debt collection agencies especially my fav scowells when you have a spare minute

Hi Jinny,

Quite useful, if depessing, information! But not really surprising. I have not yet got into the realmsof being contacted by these people, but I sspect it won't be very long, especially as I am not taking phone calls!

I was hoping that being (somewhat) elderly - well over 65 - might be a get-out for me. Think I am being naive on that one!

I have been looking at the Watchdog website but cannot find anything on debt collection agencies. What am i doing wrong????

Well when they ring you try to find a daft hat to wear pink cowboy hat say and if its a man calling picture him dressed as a pantomime dame or billy bunter and if its a woman picture her dressed as a wicked witch green face and all or a spoilt brat in a frilly dress ringlets and all. This diffuses their power over you and try to have a big grin on your face as that comes over the telephone. As Nid has told us they have no right to ring you and you read them the statement Nid gave me. You have to go through their security check first so it gets recorded on their system or they can say owt to you. Give it a go you can really have some fun with them and you get a lovely silence when you have read them the riot act. ! Im almost disapointed they no longer ring me now cos if they do I can sue them!!

could do a link but might not be allowed try doing a search for lowells or google "how to be a debt collector" thats how i found it watchdog is on the list
