Nectar has de-valued the value of its points & rewards suppliers have left.

As of 1st march, Nectar revised its reward offer to 500=£2.50 off across all rewards. This was a subtle change and not released with the fanfare of becoming the largest loyalty card in UK. By doing this, they have effectively slashed the options where people can spend their points, AND devalued their points. CUSTOMERS HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD.
For example, entry to alton towers use to be 4300 points. the entry price to alton Towers is £38.00 on gate entry price, so I was getting £4.41 per 500 points. I now only get £2.50 off for every 500 points.
This is the same for wine - I used to save my points for wine and get about £3.00 for every 500 points spent. I now only get £2.50.
More annoying is the rewards I could redeem for online and have delivered. I was saving up for an ipod nano and a Sony TV, but now they have disappeared and I have to go to Argos (ghastly) to buy them - at, guess what, £2,50 for 500 points.
I called their customer service team and they advised that some suppliers have left the programme and others have chaged their contracts. Although they realise that points are now worth less at existing rewards options, they are trying to introduce others at the moment. Also, Philips now have the exclusive contract to deliver electronics for Nectar. Rubbish - no apple, no samsung, no sony, no kenwood, no choice, and lack of quality.
In the end, Nectar have reduced choice, reduced the value of customers points, reduced quality, and not told customers. They say they are a loyalty company, is this how you treat your best customers?

Just looked on their website and they are offering double the value at ASK Restaurants.
Spend your points at ASK. 500 points = £5 off.
Nectar have teamed up with ASK Restaurants to allow you to treat yourself to great Italian food throughout the UK. All you have to do is hand over your Nectar card when paying your bill. What’s more, each 500 points gives you £5 to spend at ASK.
When brothers Adam and Sam Kaye transformed a local house into a restaurant, they had a simple dream. A home from home, where diners could relax, be themselves and rely on fantastic great value Italian food, that was 1993 - and the first ever ASK in Haverstock Hill. Since then their family of restaurants has grown across the whole of the UK, which goes to show that sometimes the simplest dreams are the best ones. With over 120 ASK restaurants nationwide there is bound to be one near you. Click here to find your nearest!

Nectar points always were rubbish IMO, They seem to be gradually going downhill, anyone remember back when you could spend and redeem in Debenhams? That went out a few years ago, what makes me laugh is Tesco plough all this effort into making their vouchers look bigger and better, even causing people to post on the boards in complaint when such offers are withdrawn yet they still look better in comparison to Nectar! Not that they even need to try hard!
Can't beat Boots for points though.0 -
Though Spam wasnt allowed? IF this is true, you might just as well get £2.50 off any spend with the 500 points.0

Boots points are great value but I find some of their stuff is overpriced to start with but I do make use of deals and glitches.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0 -
I always use mine at Sainsburys now, since Debenhams left the scheme.Ellie

I do agree that the points have been devalued - i have loads and have yet to find a reason to spend them - it might just end up being a massive shopping trip to sainsburys or argos.
Amazon voucher have now been upvalued so you could find cheap electronics on their and use amazon vouchers redeemed from nectar points?0 -
The points have been rubbish for long time.
Earn 2 points for every £1 to make it look good BUT for £10 you need 2000 points?? How stupid did they think we are?
I did not see any better value then £2.50 for 500 with Nectar since something like 2007 so that is no news.
I still however have a card, only because I shop a lot at Amazon online and you earn points on that and also shop there occasionaly (just because it's next door to TK Maxx) and sometimes they send me good vouchers.
Like at Christmas - £8 off on £40 spend. While this year Tesco didn't send me any special Christmas coupons. So then I shopped at Sainsburys and got what ever they had on special offer.0 -
I only ever use mine for Blockbuster rentals or money off if i'm buying a dvd instore (Sainsbury's are sometimes quite competitive price wise although the selection in my local store has nosedived recently).0
