Vodafone iPhone reception issues

A word of warning to anyone thinking of getting the iphone on Vodafone:
Don't do it!!
You will get little or no reception anywhere you go!
I travel up and down the UK with my job and wherever I go, I get little or no reception on the Vodafone iphone, whether that be on 2G or 3G.
Most of my friends have iphones on o2 and they always seem to have a good signal.
My boyfriend got the vodafone iphone at the same time as me and is experiencing the exact same problem.
Don't make the same mistake as me and sign up to a 2 year contract which is completely useless!0 -
After complaining to Vodafone about getting no reception on the iphone they decided to send me a replacement iphone in order to see if it was the handset that was causing the problem.
I have just received my replacement iphone and handed back my original iphone and it turns out that they sent me the OLD version of the iphone! Can you believe that!?
To top it all, the reception is still non-exsistant (which was to be expected!)
I despair!
The delivery man told me that he has been replacing loads of vodafone iphones due to bad reception.... it seems to me that Vodafone must be fully aware of the problem but are happy to keep selling innocent people their phones! Nice.0 -
Vodafone a crooks. I was with them for 18 months (couldn't get out of the contract). I was using a Sony Ericsson and had virtually no signal wherever I went. So it's not just iPhones - it's Vodafone (although the iPhone is renown for not having the best reception!).
I'm now on T-Mobile with an HTC Desire and very rarely loose signal. Says it all...0 -
I have a 3GS with Tesco Mobile and have only ever had reception problems in two locations - railway tunnels(!) and at work. Tesco uses the O2 network and I am told O2 is a problem at work for other people. If you want to cancel a contract with Vodaphone you will need to write to their complaints department, detailing the number of new handsets/ SIMs you have had - calling Voda is not sufficient to extract yourself from a legally binding credit agreement. You may be able to reject under the Sale of Goods Act, this needs research as I am not sure it applies to airtime contracts.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I got out of a contract with Yodaloan due to poor signal. I had an N97 that dont have the best reputation in the world for reception. But on Vodamoan was non-existant.
I was on a round the UK travel holiday, so really gave it a good test. I spent 99% of the time on my old Sony/o2 combination.
PS: The N97 with the o2 sim was 100% better then with the Vodacrone sim in EVERY town and city I visited.0 -
HI
I havn't posted before but need some advice regarding 2 vodaphone contracts I have. One is not in my name it is registered to a comapny that I own and should be coming out of that bank account. However every month its the same problem they cancel my personal contract so I have no phone untill I pay but I am getting no warning about this and it's leaving me with no way of contacting anybody until my service is restored. Also I have asked vodaphone to change the other contract over to my companies name and done a transfer of details but they have just ignored it and carry on stopping both lines even though they shouldn't be connected. Also I have asked the contact to be reduced by £5 each month that they agreed to as I no longer use the work contract and they havn't been doing this and just received a letter saying I owe £170 even though everymonth I'm shelling out £150 approx. I have now gone back to college and can't afford this payment but no one in customer services wants to help me or is understanding at all.
Please help - thankyou0 -
I've had exactly the same problem.
The iphone works perfectly in my office but as soon as I leave I get virtually no coverage at all; not a lot of use for a mobile phone. I live in Devon so most of my travelling tends to be around the South West, but last week I travelled along the M5 to Warwickshire and couldn't believe there was still virtually no coverage for the whole of the journey and even at the other end!
What's more I complained to Vodafone who have replaced my handset for me - no change there either.
I was previously with Orange and NEVER had any coverage issues. I thought I was going to get an even better business service with Vodafone who I had been with previously without these issues. WRONG!
I so wish I hadn't made a bad decision and changed from Orange to Vodafone...0 -
For anybody reading this post wondering if they should buy an iphone from Vodafone - I would say - don't!
I purchased a 3GS on the 7th of May on a business contract. I have had vodafone handsets and SIMs at my current address and have had no issue with signal so when the sales assistant in store tried to sell me a 'sure signal' device I declined. However I have had to phone customer services today to ask why none of the GPS related functions on my phone work.
After being told that this may be due to a low signal area (which obviously cannot be helped by boosting the signal in my home - GPS = mobile - take note customer services) Vodafone are not prepared to do anything about it as I am out of my 7 day return period. I believe this is EXTREMELY POOR service as this is a documented function of the handset any I was not told at anytime that the sat-nav apps I have downloaded would be absolutely useless including the fitness (route tracking) apps. Vodafone will do no diagnostics etc as these are 3rd party apps.
In which other industry sector can you buy something which does not work as specified to be told there is nothing you can do about it for the next 18 months even though you are only two weeks in? I did highlight that as I work full time that I believe two weeks is a reasonable period to test all functions but I am still told - in a nutshell - TOUGH.
Do NOT purchase an iPhone from Vodafone is the only advice I can give.0 -

The signal strength as shown by the phone's meter is the phone's view of how strong the signal is versus the maximum and minimum signal strengths it recognizes. It is not a fair comparison of reception between different phones, when you are comparing say 4 bars out of 5 versus 5 bars out of 5.
Where it really matters is in low signal areas, and making calls while in a moving vehicle. How good a phone is signal wise is then basically how well it holds on to a connection before it drops it. Or whether it gets a faint signal where other handsets using the same network do not get one at all.
I personally find that my iphone often doesn't have a signal, when my daughter can be stood next to me with a good signal on her HTC. And yes we are both on vodafone.0
