No buying toiletries in March challenge!

  • Hi ladies no new purchases to report so am pleased with myself (only had the bulgari slip this month)as i would normally have spent loads on toiletries without even thinking about it. Went to my zumba class tonight and was a little disappointed as the instructor was a little greedy and let too many people in, which meant the workout was not that intense as you could hardly move . A few of us approached her about it, but she insisted there was lots more space at the front:cool:. So have decided to keep at it for now and see if numbers drop a bit and there is more space freed up, but im loathe to pay £5 for an hours class if im not able to break a sweat:p.

    I want a freebie!

Does one regularly get them when buying on line? I never buy online. I like shops, and lush is in a town quite far away so limits the temptation (we only really buy bombs and bath melts) ...

I really like supporting high street shops, even good chains, but hey make it so easy not to.....

Unfortunately this was the offer they had just after Xmas and over January. They did goody bags in store and online when you spent over a certain amount - the ones in store were the best. I normally just buy in store, but I wanted something from their retro range which isn't available in store.

I'm pretty much just a bath bomb and melt girl, although I love Daddy-O shampoo. Have you tried the emotibombs? They're supposed to be for the shower, but I chuck them in the bath. One of the Lush girls told me she puts half a Sex in the Shower in the conditioner drawer of her washing machine to make her washing smell lovely. Haven't tried that yet though.

No purchases to report but finished off my Boots foot cream last night - need to get some more tomorrow.

I'm close to finishing off a Liz Earle hand cream. WIBA? Undecided. I like the texture and it's not greasy, but it's got a slightly vinegary smell. Anyway, I've got a Dead Sea Spa one that I found this morning.

I've had to put the Vanilla Dee-lite lotion to one side as I'm currently testing a body firming cream oil. It's nice, smells lovely but it takes so long to absorb and its white, so it's like rubbing goose grease in. :rotfl:I look like I'm about to swim the channel!

:rotfl: After being married for 44 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said: "Darling, 44 years ago we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a
10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25-year-old girl. Now
I have a £300,000.00 home, a £35,000.00 car, nice big bed and plasma screen TV but I'm sleeping with a 65-year-old woman. It seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 25-year-old girl, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV.

Hi lostinrates - you're not the only one who can't use Boots P&P serum - it totally breaks me out as does olay serum :(
Being new to this challenge I have been sorting out all the goodies I need to use up and found two thirds a P&P serum from when i tried to get on with it. In the interests of MSE I have started using today as ... foot cream! Am hoping for completely smooth feet in four weeks as promised on the side :rotfl:
(Apologies if any P&P fans think this is beyond wasteful ... I would offer it to a friend who I know uses this but it has been open for well over a year so thought it wouldn't really be okay for faces anymore ... but fine for toes!)[/QUOTE]

If it was me I'd be using it on the backs of my hands, more visible area and more prone to ageing/ needs more protection from the elements etc! Great to hear you're getting in the swing ofd the challenge though moneytalking....we're big here on creative alternative uses for unloved products!!
  • Good thinking Bronnie - I'm just a bit obsessed with making my feet look nicer with flipflop season coming up. I'm going to give myself a manicure this evening so will try it out then ... it does make your feet feel very nice so gotta be good for hands:rotfl:

I've got a Boots P & P serum that was too rich for me. I might use it on my neck and back of hands. Paula Begoun only rates the Protect & Perfect range as "Average" (ie not Excellent). She gives thumbs up to the Expert and Time Dimensions ranges, which are a lot cheaper.

I'm also using all the cleansers that I don't like (and are now WNBA's ) as make-up removers, and then use the cleansers's that I do like. The WBNA's are Freederm (2 to use up - £8 each and did not clear up my spots at all) and Dematologia (bought a cleanser, moisturizer and scrub. Cost me £80 in total, not worth the money). I'm sticking to L'Oreal Pure Zone, cleanser, toner & moisturizer which cost me £16 in total on Boots Online and are much better products.

I love the Bodyshop Peppermint range. I'm obsessed with my feet looking good for Summer too and this range has worked for me. Also, when I went to the Choropodist for a foot complaint I had a few years ago, after he'd treated my feet, he gave me a massage and used the Bodyshop Peppermint range too and said he thought it was the best.
