OK, well I tried thi s on monday and then while sick didn't really look at myself :o just caught a glipse of my hair and I'm shocked: its gone MEGA brassy...the red is almost metallic, the blonde (which was cream) really....well brassy. This is most definitely not something I will ever use again. It was just looking its best between colours too. :(:(

Not sure what to do about my hair now:(:(:(:(

I know i shouldn't be pointing towards buying new stuff, but I really rate this for keeping away brassy-ness: Toni & Guy Platinum Blonde Shampoo

It's not cheap, but I have higlighted hair, and it used to get brassy - this got rid of a lot of brassiness in the first wash, and it's never got remotely brassy since. (John Frienda and other 'blonde' ranges never did much at all) I have another friend with really really light highlighted hair, and she also swears by it. I don't know if it would fix your hair instantly, and it is a new (not cheap!) buy - but if you're really stuck, it might help.

What are these miracle Boots double faced pads of which you all speak? Does anyone have a link? I always buy mine from Semi Chem! :rotfl:

    It's these:

    but personally i prefer these:
http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Cosmetic-Pads-100_2499/ - they feel thicker to me, seem to deal with a bit more punishment :rotfl:

Both are brill though, way better than the ones i used to buy in poundshops and such.

    I won a Benefit lipstick:T

I don't need any cosmetics, I have a huge stash and I have gotten better at not buying things but there's so much temptation.

    Current temptations:
1 )The free tote bag with Marc Jacobs Daisy or Lola. I really like it. Last time I wanted a GWP item was the Betty Jackson for Clinique make up bag but I resisted and then bought the bag (without the cosmetics) on ebay for £2.99 postage included. But the Marc Jacobs bags are selling for up to £20 on ebay which is a rip off. It would make more sense to buy the perfume.

    2) Estee Lauder night serum and Double Wear foundation. I've never been a fan of Estee Lauder until I read about and got a sample of the foundation. I don't like my Clinique foundation any more, doesn't seem to suit me as well as it used to and Debenhams have a GWP with Estee Lauder.

    3) Debenhmas also have a Clinique promotion, freebies if you buy 1 item and I'd like to replace the clarifying lotion that has run out.

The €40 budget I set myself for the month is almost used. I bought a Soap+Glory butter suite 1/3 off and Marie Claire/Glamour magazines for the freebies/toothpaste/Impulse "into glamour". I used No7 vouchers at Boots....

But the reality is that a €40 cosmetics budget really doesn't go very far.I feel that it should be enough to spend on cosmetics but it's clearly not covering very much of what I want.

Ah, but the question is, is it covering what you NEED?!

    Well done on the lipstick!

What we want and what we NEED are sometimes two entirely different things, thats why this thread is so popular;)
For example i know that i WANT lots of lush stuff but i really Dont need it so the last time i went in their shop was before christmas buying pressies for other people, ive been up town about 5 times since but avoided lush as i know i can spend at least £10 a visit on stuff just because it smells nice. Thanks to this thread i now realise i have cupboards full of stuff that smells nice (and its better to use up what i have than just keep adding to the stash without thinking.)
well done on winning the lippy Mags30:T

Would this be any good for natural blonde hair? I don't usually use blonde-specific products as mine isn't dyed, but I used to use a camomile shampoo which made my hair look lovely.

Thanks, might have to get some as they're on offer! I have points to spend though, so no cash will be needed... and I am almost out of cotton pads. :)

On the shampoo - don't know. I have naturally dark blonde hair, but i've been getting it highlighted for so long now it's most light blonde all over! If your hair isn't brassy, and you like your current shampoo, don't bother - it's money you don't need to spend!

Cotton wool - i saw they were on offer, and i'm tempted to get some as well now, d*mn! I really don't need them though, i can resist! Slightly annoyed the double sided ones are cheaper on offer, as they're normally more expensive - but I have to say, the double sided ones are probably the best for removing eye make-up, they're a bit softer and gentler.

Yes but if I didn't have a massive stash it might not. Cosmetics are really expensive.

The bag is black plastic, not everybody would like it.

I don't know why I can't just avoid shops. It's like a hobby for me walking around clothes and cosmetic shops and Boots.

Tara the flake promotion is different in Ireland. (flake.ie) There are no wrapper codes, it's the last 4 numbers of the barcode that are entered. The barcode just happens to be the same on every pack;)
