Asda - grrrr!

We were due a food delivery on Friday - it didn't arrive because their computer system put the wrong postcode next to our address, no-one spotted the error, and the driver rang me who was 70 miles away, the order had been sent to the wrong depot. grrr.

Then.

I reordered, for delivery today, and it didn't turn up.
Customer services said their deliveries were 3 hours behind, gave us the wrong phone number to call the store, when we reached the store we discovered that they'd taken our order off the delivery sheet - no-one had called us, there was a poor girl with a list of similar complaints as long as her arm, and again we were without our food delivery.

To make matters worse, I'm recovering from a major operation so I'm housebound and can't make it to the shops.

I will never ever use Asda again, it's not just their failure to deliver, it was the way they handled the problems. I'm so amazed at their poor service, they had my email address and my phone number and couldn't even let me know they'd decided not to deliver my order.

(end of rant)

That sucks. Have you ordered from elsewhere, or have someone who can get the shopping in for you? I hope so as I'm a bit too far away to help, unfortuntely.

  • Aw thanks.

I'm resending my trolley to Tesco's this time, only I'm having to go through everything in the trolley to check I'm taking advantage of all their reductions. Sooooo boring (esp after the 3rd time in one weekend.)

Feel a bit better now I've had a bit of sympathy.

Well I'm sorry you have to go to all that bother just to get some food in, but tea and sympathy never hurt anyone...especially someone who just had an operation.

Now sit down and have some tea and cake *Pickle whips out a teapot, cup, sauver, teaspoon, sugar, milk jug and a plate of chocolate digestives*

    HTH! ;)

  • I agree that Asda are dreadful. I too was expecting an order today. This is my second time. As they messed up my first order before Christmas they had given me a free delivery so I stupidly tried again. So many wrong items meaning offers not valid and putting lots on bill. I sent a lot back because of this and then when I unpacked I found 4 items I had been charged for weren't there. I have emailed and await a response but I agree their service is a bad joke!

And there I was trying to sell the virtues of online food shopping to my parents on Friday night - they definitely wont give it a go now!

Have gone back to Tesco's -shame really, Asda's are going to get sooo slated when I get my online shopping surveys!

Thanks for the cuppa Pickles. In times of crisis, tea and sympathy work wonders x

i too had a problem with my asda delivery yesterday and am writing a complaint letter today as it was handled worse then when they have messed up before..... just wondering if anyone works for asda and could confirm the 'getting customers order' to 'giving it to van driver' process as i am struggling to see how they can loose so many of my items every month.

    thanks in advance.

Service varies from area to area, but I have no problem with my local Sainsburys - and they do one hour time slots as well.

Also, for what I buy Sainsbury is slightly cheaper than Asda, but I think that will vary from shopper to shopper.

I think it is worth trying out all the local ones and seeing how they work out, and you may find either Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury work out for you.

I'm not happy with them either. On Friday my order arrived without many of the items. I didn't realised until after I'd started to unpack. Basically, all the meat and most of the frozen items (about £30 worth) was missing. I called CS would said the store would call me back to arrange delivery. Just after I finished speaking to CS the driver called to say that he'd found some of my order in the next delivery. He came back but only about 75% of the order was there. He checked his van for the rest but couldn't find anything so he said he'd make a note of it back at the store.

On Sat afternoon no call from store so called CS. Same on Sunday. Not heard anything. Very bad CS! I'm guessing that they'll just refund the missing items now, however, this will cost me more because I got the 4x cod fillets that were on HUKD on the 4 for £3 offer. They're usually £2 each but I only received 3 out of the 4. If they refund the missing one then I won't qualify for the offer so will end up paying £6 for 3 packs instead of £3 for 4 pack.

Thats another one of my issues - for some reason they have messed up all the offers and my pies that were on 4 for £3 have been put on 2 for £4 and charged me full price for another 2 items.

Think I am gonna draw attention to this thread in my complaint.

    Hope everyone gets things sorted.

They're entitled to change the offer. You pay on the day what they are in the store. Check the pies are still on offer on the website.

I've actually just noticed that I was charged £8 for the 4x cod fillets. They're no longer on the offer so I can only assume they were no longer on the offer when my order arrived. I think that i'm going to check my order a lot more carefully when it arrives in the future. I could use tesco but of course Asda is cheaper (and quicker as I've got my previous orders I can go through quickly to add to my basket).
