indeed.. you'd need to change your package and have bbs to make that work. what about giving the contract to someone else (bro's / sister's) and starting a new one?

You can still use a blackberry without the BB "bolt on". You just don't get to use the "push email" BB client and have to use regular email instead.

There are rules about transferring your contract to someone else, such as that person transferring a credit check.

NEVER simply give someone a contract sim still in your name as they could run up a huge bill which YOU would have to pay!
I was talking bout giving it to someone liek family (i trust mine not to do anything stupid), otherwise if i was selling it to a stranger i'd obviously get everything done. But good advice nonetheless :)
  • id transfer it to my dog if i could haha
my cousin is thinking bout taking it over and also my uncle might but im not holding out hope tbh

Just out of curiosity, why do you hate the phone?

uh... so which other networks will let you break a contract without honouring it?

I think he was implying that the deal was poor, not that you could terminate with other networks.

Sell your phone (assuming its in ok condition) and use the money to get a new phone.

You'd only get £20 - £30 for the tocco used...
Best bet is to see if Orange would put you on a BB tariff if you bought a BB phone.

doubt there are any that do. Its wrong that should you cancel your contract you have to pay for the rest of it! greedy companies

Not really you could have paid more for the phone and got it on PAYG. The contract lets you get a £300 pound phone for what seems to be free, in reality you just pay for it installments from your contract.

Other contries have contracts that can be got out of easily, but you pay the cost of the phone upfront, the UK just has the moel we have.
Horses for courses really, one way or another you pay the cost of the phone, either by a large up front fee, or by a longer tie in tho the contract so the cost gets covered that way.

Bit of a silly model if you ask me.

It's a bit like buying a massively discounted car and committing to buying a minimum spend on a particular brand of petrol for a year.

They're not really greedy, they just give you the phone 'free' and make up the cost of the handest over the course of the contract. If you just cancel and pay nothing, they've still paid the phone manufacturer up front for your handest, so they lose out.
