PenPen - I had my bike out today, been thinking for a couple of years of trading it in for a new one as it is 'not a good ride' and I think a bit small for me. I'm convinced if I had one which was more enjoyable to use I would use it more.

I'd highly recommend it :T I cycled loads whne I was younger, but pretty much gave it up at Uni, and had no bike until we moved here when the children were small. I bought a basic bike as I wasn't sure if I'd use it, but I did and rode for miles with DS in a little seat on the back, then with the children on their "fairy cycles" :j That bike gave up the ghost (the frame rusted away :( ) so I invested several hundred pounds in a Specialized bike - what a difference :j:j:j I've saved a fortune by cycling to work, and at 8 miles each way, it helps to keep me fit and helps me sleep (but I'm permanently ravenous on those days :o ). DH and I (and sometimes the children) do lots of cycling both locally and taking our bikes on the car-rack, too :T

I'm trying to persuade my boss to let me buy a new road bike under the Cycle to Work scheme, but my employers have no interest in reducing their impact on the planet, despite always complaining that we're cash strapped  *roll eyes*

Ooh thanks for the link - I'll have a good read up later and see if there is a stockist nearby - did you try it before you bought yours.

I found two pairs of jeans DS1 hasn't been wearing because the belt loops needed stitching back on. I have shown him where the sewing machine is kept.

I'm ok ta...appears that Great Aunt Florence is over...she isn't in the least bit welcome!;)

Just had some painkillers and put some clothes away back in the drawers.

    Brought the bin in.

Bedroom is still atrocious, I don't understand, it doesn't appear to be getting any tidier or decluttered.:(
Keep on ebaying... you'll get there in the end. How about enlisting some help?

It worked. He sewed them up himself!! Now to get him to sew a button on his other trousers.
:j:j:j So you've now found a way to move them from in front of the TV? Keep finding little things for them to do and you'll soon find they spend less time getting in your way.

I've been to a meeting... just about to have supper, then tackle some more of the paperwork on my desk. The ironing mountain may have to wait until tomorrow...

I was able to cycle around the park where the cycle shop is :D We went during a weekday, so there were few people around.

I can heartily recommend Evans - they're not the cheapest, but the staff are friendly, knowldgable and very helpful :T We've bought 3 bikes from there, and lots of kit and clothing.

So Sorry Jenny. I've added you to the list. Have you got a plan of action as to what you would like to achieve?

    Airing cupboard emtpy.
I've lost the will to sew tonight now so will do that tomorrow.

I'll be out most of tomorrow looking for DS1 birthday presents and the water will be off here but I will check up on you all when I return.

    1st Paper Monday
Anything to do with paperwork/photos/boxes of cards/kids pictures/books/magazines etc
Remeber some paperwork needs to be kept for certain periods of times
Shread confidential waste - this can be used in the compost/wormery; for pet bedding or packing up those ebay sales you will be making later in the week.

    2nd Cotton Tuesday
Clothes - anybody's for charity/rehoming or ebay but not creating piles!
If it has not been worn in a year is it ever likely to be?
Do you have summer/spring clothes stashed away which you could sort out?
Are some of your winter clothes really past their best?
Are there items not being worn because they are waiting to be mended/defuzzed? If so get that done this evening and start wearing them
Anything that needs drycleaning take to the cleaners.
Clothes which cannot be reworn can be bagged and labelled as rags and placed in the supermarket clothing banks or given to charity shops - they still get cash from the rag man.

    3rd Leather Wednesday
    Handbag sorting/putting away/rehoming
    including camping stuff/sleeping bags/sporting equipment
    shoes/boots - do any need reheeling/polishing/waterproofing
Shoe banks for recycling are in lots of supermarket carparks
    Sort through belts and accessories.
Have you filled another bag for the charity shop yet?

    4th Linen Thursday
    Linen and airing cupboards
Towels give them a good sort; Vets often want old towels
Do not keep stuff just in case.
Sort all your bedding, do you need that many spare sets
Piles of spare nets and curtains again do you use them?
Cushions - any lumpy horrid ones to get rid of?
Napkins and Tablecloths you never use.
Again recycle/charity shop/rehome/sell but do not stash.

    5th Wood Friday
    Can include toys
    Sorting sheds
    Tidying or restocking your woodstore
    DIY jobs
    Sorting cupboards/drawers
    Desk drawer sort out

    6th Iron Saturday
Cleaning out the car removing all the clutter from the boot and side pockets
    Sorting your heavy metal records
Sorting your baking tins/cast iron pans
Golf irons - yes that's on my list
Cutlery drawers and all those utensils you never use
Are all the bikes ready for spring, now could be a good time to sell any which are nolonger used.
Garden tools/lawnmowers again get them ready for spring and any you do not use ebay/freecycle or recycle at the metal part of your local dump

7th Day of rest! Almost lets pamper Sunday
Sort out your toiletries/make up bag and enjoy a bath decluttering all those bath bombs/face packs/trail samples/candle lit of course!
Throw away stuff which has been open for a good while, gooey mascara and nail polish.
Not long now until you can start using the fake tan and need the sunscreen so your final declutter is a good exfoliate.

Have not kept up at all yet, but will be here most of the day tomorrow and a black be=ag and box of stuff to be collected (hopefully) so that will be something.
I thiught I had better copy the list as I will lose track!!!! xx
