I've got the Eggmoney with no fee and 1% cashback as my day to day card.
I have the Amex Platinum but only use it once a month now so it doesn't go dormant and will cancel after my cashback pays out.
I have a Santander zero (originally for abroad use) but now have BT'd onto it to take advantage of the no fee BT at 0% for existing customers
I have a Nationwide gold card for abroad holiday use (no commission fees, just Visa fee outside EU)
I have an Amazon card just to get the £15 incentive which has just paid out so I'll cancell it shortly
Ans I've just applied for Goldfish reward card to get the £30 argos vouchers

I have 3.
1. MBNA (limit £2000 balance £75) with a 0% balance transfer which will be clear and closed in the next 2 months.
2. HBOS (limit £1900 balance £40, just waiting on statement to update to allow payment)- use this one for shopping etc and pay it in full, just to keep it active. Also use it for online shopping.
3. Capital One (limit £500 balance nil) - I'm a named cardholder on my OH's credit card. Haven't got a pin and I make sure this is always clear!
So I have 3 and I'm managing great. My dad on the other hand has 3 and has a big balance on all of them. So I think the 'how many is too many' question is totally dependant on the person.0 -
Barclaycard - My 1st CC because I banked with them
AMEX - For the cashback
Tesco - For the clubcard points
MBNA - For the 0% (paid for my new kitchen)
I move my cards around the 0%, but tend to close the old ones down. MBNA has moved 3 times to get the 0% deal and move the high credit limit I have.
When my dad died and we collected his belongings from the hospital, the nurse too me aside and said "I don't want to alarm you, but we found 15 credit cards in his wallet". Did panic us, but we found he was a card tart and most of them were clear. (Thank goodness!!)I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100
