  • I'm still using firefox as I really like it, but OH switched to chrome a while ago, which I can't say I like as much. That said neither of us use IE anymore if we don't have to!

Same with me too. I'm using Firefox for the last 4 years and switched to chrome which is even quick to load dynamic sites.

true but this was a complaint about microsofts software which runs on a wide variety of hardwares and configurations, all of which hold the possibility of running another operating system, should the users wish to do so.... things with the iphone is, they are built to run apples operating system and work with apples programming. so as far as monopolies go, if apple started making their mobile OS or OS X installable on varying compatible machines (yes i know OS X has been modified to run on intel hardware but this isnt apples doing) then im sure the same case can be applied and users will be notified of a choice of browsers. until then, apple keep making software for their own hardware, and theres not much you can do about that.

But Apple are quite vocal about having other developers create software for the iPhone; the don't make it all themselves.

They just don't allow anyone else to make software which duplicates the features of their software.

I don't quite give into the hysteria surrounding the restrictions placed upon iPhone app development, but I do think Apple need to open it up more.

I've just taken up the offer from Microsoft to instal additional browsers and have installed Firefox.

Can someone answer some pretty basic questions please:

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, Ad Aware and Rapport. Do these still work with Firefox, or do I have to make any changes. (plus Windows Firewall).

The web pages on Firefox are wider than my screen. Is there a way of changing this?

Are there any important differences when going from Internet Explorer 8 to Firefox that I should be aware of.

If I'm completing any forms on company websites in IE8 this comes up on Microsoft Outlook ready to send off. Does this happen when using Firefox.

Sorry if these are stupid questions, please put it down to old age.

Everyone is getting out of the IE boat that has been sinking for a while now.

Next thing that will sink though is going to be Firefox. It has just gotten too much everything great in it and that will end up as it's greatest problem.

I myself use Google Chrome and Apple Safari. Though these both have certain problems they are my favourites. I do recommend them for anyone.

My advice would be though to forget Firefox. Can't really say that is it the correct decision, but I would do so.:j
