Well Im not having a good week with the OS way of life! I have just had to throw away a whole Crock of glutinous meatballs. There is nothing i can do to resurrect them and they had burnt. Checked and double checked the recipe and Crock and it was 100% according to recipe. Then earlier in the week I chucked a weetabix loaf as it tasted horrid. I dont know what I did wrong. Now Im actually quite a good cook (if i say so myself) when I can actually do it so two disasters in one week is just not me and a waste of ingredients.

Yesterday I went to the Imperial War museum to see the Ministry of food exhibition. It was good and I enjoyed it very much as it brought back quite a few memories of my childhood. Now Im not that old but was brought up by two parents who went through the war and who are very frugal. For example my dad still has his wooden seedling trays which were an exhibit and my mum has a very old mincer which was also on display. My mum hoards and its easy to see why given rationing. She still has a tin of bacon in brine from 1950!!!!!! I didn't see any other OS'ers as it was so busy and we only stayed for a couple of hours. We drove back home through central london and took in the sights. Kids dad is so confident driving in city traffic so really enjoyed it although SatNav took us through some less than savoury areas of London.

Hope you have a lovely dayx

    Good afternoon all.

Had a very lazy day so far although the ironing is now calling me  I have got a chicken in the oven and everything else ready to go so it'll all come together by teatime. It smells so yummy I'm getting very hungry.

Diva Sorry that Tris is still not good xx

Penny Pincher Big hugs to you xx

Haribo Enjoy the new job :)

Bitsy It's all about the grandkids once they come along. I can remember when my daughter was a baby my Mum used to stand on the drive, as we were lugging everything out of the car, holding her arms open for DD. We didn't get a look in and still don't but it's lovely that all the children have a close relationship with my Mum & Dad really.

Mr & Mrs Csarina Happy Anniversary :)

    Halight Belated Birthday Wishes

Hope that everyone is having a good day xxx
  • Hi All
Feel Better for that shower :D
DH just said he doesn't fancy a roast dinner tonight  He says he filled up on brunch so only wants a bowl of soup and that he wants me to have a rest day cos I don't get a day off - honestly  who can figure men out :rotfl:
So Beef has been put in the fridge for tomorrow that has put my meal plan a bit off kilter but it's ok really.
So I am browsing all the craft sites I can for a bit of inspiration - I need a kick start, Don't know about anyone else but the weather lately being so grey has left me feeling a bit lethargic and totally drained.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

had a busy afternoon, been to visit Mum as she's of to the scilly Isles tomorrow for a week with her brother and his wife to their time-share cottage.
I've finally made Weezls onion tart - its in the oven now and looks yummy!:) we're having it with wedges and baked beans. Its made a huge tart so will be some left for tomorrows lunch.
DS1 has been and visited(stopped here last night) and also met up with his friends. Thankfully things are going smoothly with him at the moment.
Have also done the ironing:j so time for a quick break I think.:T

I've made my bread and its cooling on the side ready for sandwiches tomorrow, I've also made 18 muffins so I'll take 10 into work tomorrow for everyone and try and ration the rest to one a day each but they're so nice so i doubt that will happen. I've cooked a roast which we've eaten and stripped the carcass and its currently boiling with onions, celery, garlic, peppercorns and a bayleaf to make stock and then I'll make chicken soup.

I forgot to say while the oven was on for the roast I've also made a chilli and a shepherds pie for the week.

Sitting down now with a very well deserved glass of wine!
Trying to save money and always open to ideas and expecting our first child in March 2015.

Schumie - Sorry I loathe Michael but shan't hold that against you ;) :rotfl: Welcome to the Daily - this site is sooooo addictive!

Haribo - I knew what you meant about your job. Career? What's one of those :rotfl:

Just got in from shopping. Who knew the whole world would pick Sunday to go shopping :( The fastrack isn't working so had to queue for ages to put shopping through grrrrrrrr.
Kids are now having lunch so need to put the rest of the shopping away and quickly put the vac round before a million and one toys get pulled out :rotfl:
Nice and mild here with no wind - I am hoping the worst of the weather passes us by.
Will have to squeeze in a visit to my parents with the kids this afternoon - they flatline if they don't see enough of them. Sod me it's all about the grandkids these days :rotfl:

  • Evening all

I had a very productive day. Finally sorted out the spare bedroom, unpacked the last box (I did only move in last August! :rotfl:), got a big pile of things to Ebay/Freecycle, hoovered and cleaned flat from top to bottom :D

Just back from the cinema with the girls, we went to see Valentine's Day, bit late but hey! It was quite good, funny and not too soppy.

Just having some toast and then I'm off to bed. Back in work tomorrow, first time in 2 weeks after one week leave and one week sick. Going in half hour early to check emails before I head out to oversee my teens running a charity carwash.....with firemen :D :j

    Night all

    Hi Reverbe,
Unfortunately I cant walk very well, I mainly wobble like a weeble, so use a scooter (red) to get around on. So I dont think it was me x
