OS Daily Thread - Sunday 28th February

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 28th February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

nmlc - well done on the continued weight loss!
Noahs - I liked them all but looking again at your dress I would say the Cheshire or Sorrento would complement it and your lovely long ringlets perfectly.

Sistercas and Redruby - How fab having chicks named after you, that is so cute!
Candy - hope that cold clears up soon and I have no doubt your grandaughter will make you feel 100 times better!
Butterflybrain - Will keep everything crossed that your great niece keeps improving.
LameWolf - Sorry to hear your husband was annoying you so much and was amused by your punishment choice.. giggle.gif He will soon regret it, IF he remembers what it is he has done.. you know men, memories like sieves when it suits them!

Michelle is apparently doing very well now she is back at her home. Tris however seems to be in a lot of pain and every breath hurts him so he is using oxygen a lot which means he isn't moving around much.

  • Good morning Diva and all who follow  I decluttered DH off to China for a week yesterday, so had a really early night, and fell asleep with my book and a log fire in my bedroom ;) I'm now feeling refreshed and ready to face the day :j If it's dry I'll go for a run once the sun is up :j

I'm going to make pancakes for breakfast. DD has asked if a friend can come for lunch. This is a boy that I've never met, so unsure if it's a boy who's a friend, or ............. :o There's HM minestrone from yesterday, and HM crusty bread. Dinner will be the last of the HG sausages, mashed neeps and tatties, onion gravy and HG carrots.

I'm intending to labelsome more of my phots, and have some time on my needlepoint, quilting and crochet :D

Have a great Old Style day, everyone :T

    Morning everyone.

I put down DS at about 8.30pm last night and fell alseep on his bed. Woke up about 10.30 when H came up at bedtime  Good job since DD decided to be up from 5am. Having a quick browse and checking emails before I attempt to do some yoga stretches. My back is so stiff and uncomfortable after sleeping on my side all night and I keep meaning to do some yoga each day. I just can't seem to get into much of a routine with anything these days. Easily distracted, especially when it comes to MSE :o

Anyway have to go off shopping today. No idea what's for tea since I forgot to get the chicken out of the freezer. Might see what's on offer at Mr S and perhaps pick something up.
Got to clean upstairs and the bathroom. Fit that in with shopping and the kids and that's my day gone :rotfl:

Diva - sorry to hear Tris is still in pain xx Do they know what's causing the pain? Is it a result of the accident? Sending lots of healing vibes his way x

NPM - :T on picking your readings. Good choices all of them ;) I am getting very excited at the talk of weddings. Makes me want to do it all again (to my H of course ;))

Lamewolf - hugs to you. Sorry your H is getting on your nerves.

sistercas - the choc cake sounds lovely. Going to have any for breakfast?!! :rotfl:

Haribo - Well done on your dream job :T:T Sorry you won't be around as much but please pop back when you can and keep us updated with your hen stories ;)

Nope none of you are going to be/have been battered too much by the big winds. Batten down the hatches and curl up on the sofa :D
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

Morning. Fairly calm down this way now after overnight wind and rain. More big winds coming on Thurs-Fri which could ruin the fishing trip on Monday, but that's still some time away..
Church today and then we will try and fix up some sort of roast. I feel like cheating and getting 2 already roasted chickens from the supermarket, Bessies potatoes etc. Can't be bothered to cook all fresh stuff.

Football this afternoon anyway, so don't want to be cooking and cleaning all day.

    Well, have a good day

    Morning All

Bit bleary eyed this morning but nothing drastic, fell asleep early in the chair as DH went to set up a new computer for a friend up the road...with the fact that I was on my own and the heating was on...I didn't last long!:D

I have a MS job to do early this afternoon which will probably take me around an hour and the rest of the day will be cooking/baking/resting! Very little housework with DS1 being such a busy little bumbler yesterday :T just need to tidy the fridge and cupboards out a little as he put the shopping away and he tends to just shove it in close the door and hope for the best. DH went to the fridge last night and I said 'be careful' he said 'its ok - I've played kerplunk before' :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a good day

We popped in to where hubby works yesterday to drop off some tools he needs next week, people can get a bit funny about him getting on the train with a huge saw. While we were there we collected the 3 bags of books he'd collected, one was the latest Val McDairmid, so I got nothing else done yesterday afternoon as I was buried in the book.
Well done on the dream job Haribo.
    Belated Happy Birthday Halight.
Now I must get on with all the jobs I didn't do yesterday, including more Stargazy hens.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all

Been MIA for a couple of days, followed a little on my phone one day but need to catch up with the thread properly so to all who need it (((Hugs))) Happy Birthday to anyone I have missed and Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs Csarina.

Been away on a lovely spa break with my sister - it was an early birthday present from my Hubbie and DD's. (birthday tomorrow) and it was fab!!!!! Did loads of swimming, went in saunas, steamrooms, jacuzzis, had facial and manicures and eaten some lovely food - that I didn't have to cook.:D:D:D

Back home now and I have all week off work, today we have friends coming for dinner and Hubbie is doing all the cooking:D He is very good at roast dinners though I have to help him with his timings or he would boil everything to death;) We have a lovely piece of beef that we got from Costco - I really like their meat, not cheap but usually very good quality and it is a lovely big piece so will do plenty of meals for the week.

Got a blueberry bush from Costco yest too to plant out so will now have cherries, raspberries, apples, rhubarb and blueberries growing, mostly in pots in a smallish garden - need to start some seeds off for my veg this week too.

Tomorrow DD's have day off too and they are taking me to Raymond Blancs restaurant as a treat- they do some really good lunch time deals so am looking forward to that too.

Anyway off to get a cuppa and then read back to catch up. Hope you all have a lovely sunday.x

  • Good Morning

    Congrats Haribo :T

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Csarina

Tiredmum - doesn't seem too bad but I bet a couple of the roads are shut that flooded last time. Yesterday was quite nice as well, mild and windy so it was drying out :(

Having a slow start but going to jump in the shower in a min and get going to make up for my lazy day yesterday. Shall be mainly concentrating on the ironing which won't be too bad at all as have loads of stuff sky+ to watch while Im doing it.

So glad it is March tomorrow. Going to be starting a new regime of trying to be more organised and stop spending the little bits of money here and there which I have done recently. Menu planning hasn't been too good lately and will get that nailed again. Also need to get back to my surveys which have been neglected. So proper time management, will be using the timer on the phone a lot methinks.

Anyway today have a M&S chicken that I picked up yesterday for dinner tonight, will be definately meal planning today and doing an online Tesco shop - no excuses. The weather is terrible but think we do need to pop out to Argos to return the drill that OH bought (from the insurance money) he paid £100 for it and the same one is £40 in Makro.

Anyway I should be getting on :o have a great Sunday.x

    Good morning guys,

Cold, grey and miserable it is today so far! let's hope it improves.

Woo hoo! I am today sitting in my dining room after many hours of lugging junk, furniture and scrubbing yesterday. Now I can see the mountain/hill while I am surfing and today we will be having our meals in here, :D The kids were wonderfully behaved yesterday and very helpful :T:T and it was funny when the 2 eldest and myself were trying to manouvere the 2 leather settees out of here and in to the lounge, just like something out of Mr Bean lol.

Last room to be done today - lounge, but it simply needs a wash down and some wires sorting out and then I have a small pile of ironing. The usual swish and swipe through the house later on and a little bit of sewing tonight.

Roast chicken and all the trimmings tonight and I think some toasties for lunch as they will be nice and easy.

Haribo - Well done on the job :T:T it's just a pity that we will see less of you. xxx
Halight - Belated wishes for yesterday, I hope you had a good day. xx
Csarina - Happy Anniversary to you both. xx

Gentle hugs to anyone who could do with one today and I hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

    Smoky. xxx

  • Morning everyone :hello:

:o I think descibing the job as my Dream job may have given you all the impression that I'm embarking on a huge career when it just means that it's something I know I will enjoy and it fits in with my current job and the children AND it will bring in extra money. ;) Just wanted to clear that up.

The girls brought me breakfast at the crack of dawn this morning. I'm not good with food in the morning but very lovely it was too. :D
Plans for today are ironing in front of a family film later, baking cookies and a couple of loaf cakes with Dtwin2 and making roast lamb for dinner.
Really, really, really have to sort out the spare/craft/junk room again.

    Have lovely days.

    Haribo x
