Hi all,

Just went through this site to open ANOTHER savings account, this time the Icesave account paying 6.2%. My ICICI account is now successfully open and I've logged on to test it, but it only has a balance of £1...

Plan is to save up 12 months' worth of living expenses in my ICICI account and to save £100 a month in my Icesave account towards a new (but still second hand) car as mine won't last forever and I won't just put it on a credit card or something daft like that. No more borrowing once I'm debt free!

A week and a day to go...

The last bits of furniture have been sold on ebay - got about £80, which is good. Will have to pop over to flat this weekend to take them apart for the buyers, who should collect the stuff on Sunday.

Then I need to do a last minute check around to make sure I haven't left anything behind and the keys go off to the estate agent for the buyers to pick up next Friday.

I've found another search to do on Quidco, so I can now make 32p a day in about 5 minutes. Excellent!

So, if there is 235 working days a year, I could make £75.20 a year if I did these searches every lunchtime. If I can manage weekends too, then that's 329 days of searches, making £105.28 and if I can manage all 365 days then that makes £116.80.

That's quite a lot of money actually!

Hi all,

Been planning what to do with the money from my flat sale (how much to put where - i.e. 12 months' living expenses in ICICI savings account and £1700 into ICESave savings account) - much better fun than figuring out how on earth to pay back credit cards...

Did a quick review of my budget and updated the spending in it and it's not looking very good! I budget £775 a month to spend and I've pretty much already spent that with 5 months to go. The worst thing is that I can see exactly where it has all gone.

The big money drains are:

1) The car (but I've paid insurance, MOT, tax and service for this year so that's probably not going to cost much more except in petrol and if anything goes wrong)
2) Going out for dinner (spent FAR too much on this, so will have to stop going out I think)
3) Going on holiday (haven't got much holiday left this year - about 4 1/2 days - so hopefully shouldn't spend much except for going away at new year but that's to my parent's house)
4) Gadgets (new computer, new laptop)

Luckily, I've got lots of stuff to ebay or sell at a car boot but, thinking about it realisticly, that'll raise one month's spending at most.
1) Old computer bits
2) Unused furniture from flat
3) Possible old mobile and get a new free one?

I am also working away doing Pinecone Research and YouGov surveys, but that's not going to make significant amounts that I can rely on. I also get some Quidco cashback, but again, it's not massive amounts.

One thing I haven't done much lately is matched betting. I think I'll have to start doing it again.

At least you know this now and can do something about it. Just imagine what would have happened if you haven't sold up and realised you were overspending!

Got to keep positive.

OK make that 52p a day! It turns out that one of the searches can be done three times in a day! Wow! That's £2.50 a working week (if the clicks track) - that'll pay for my lunches at work pretty much.

Hi all,

Just had a call from the garage, as I had to take the car in as the front electric window got stuck open! Not ideal as it lives in our road...

Anyway, they have fixed both electric windows (one was stuck shut, one was stuck open) and I asked them to find out what the annoying noise was that the car was making. Turns out that the exhaust was just about to fall off and a wheel bearing was busted. Oh, and the driver door lock hasn't worked for months...

All now being fixed/is fixed. Collect car tomorrow.

Total cost....expected...to......be........aaargh......£590 :mad:
