  • Received current account (& credit card - pah, binned that) application form from Nationwide this weekend so filled it in and have given it to gf to take to branch today at lunchtime.

I wonder how well they will transfer all our direct debits?

We have two standing orders from our main bank accounts paying in our contributions on the day we are paid - we'll need to change them ourselves

Our ISP charges us using a debit card for the account so I'll need to change that or get them to set up a direct debit.

Other than that we have 7 direct debits for them to move....

    Wish us luck!

  • Just phoned Capital One and closed my credit card!

Apparently (!) as they are refunding such a large amount of money it will take 21 working days and they are sending me a cheque. Oh well!

They "don't have the facilities" to transfer directly to a bank account. What rot! They just want to have 21 days worth of interest.

Now I twiddle my thumbs until 16 November

Grrrr closed my account on the 18th and haven't received my cheque yet. Have phoned Capital One just now to complain and the chap said he will send them a message to hurry up.

They'd better! I want my money.

  • Hi all,

Still here! Need to send LBA but can't now until Friday.

Will put on my spending diary for this week on Friday too it looks like as have to dash.

Also, still no cheque from Capital One. There really are sods. I might see if I can get them to pay quicker by threatening to charge them interest and perhaps some £12 late payment fees? I'm not joking either, the amount of time they've taken. I'm really annoyed!

Phoned them again just now. Apparently the cheque is now waiting to be approved and will be posted once it's been approved.

    Not pleased.

I will give them another week and then I will phone and keep getting escalated up the food chain until they tell me either when the plan to send the cheque or send it to me electronically.

They are right pains. I forgot to mention that I want to charge them interest and that I didn't really want to have to take them to the small claims court...
