HI all

just changed both my gas and electricity from Scottish ignorant rude power :)
to British gas for electricity and ebico for gas

is anyone using Ebico pay on receipt of bill ?
from when you get the bill how long to you get to pay ? 14 days or something??

Scottish power was sending me threatening letters after 14days despite me paying them most of the bill off by that time... if i did phone them to tell them i dont get paid for 3 weeks or something they would never extend the 14 days all they wanted was the money right away or me on a payment plan

got a letter yesterday after paying a £180 gas bill in just over a month telling me they without my permission they had put me on a monthly payment plan

this was a the final straw and I have today moved suppliers but am worried i might get the same problem again

I don't like payment plans I am disabled and on benefits because of my disabilities
so when i get a £180 winter bill I can't always have the money within 14 days
and to be honest I doubt a lot of working family's could do it either but i normally pay a big bill like this with a month anyway so i don't see what the problem is
with these people

do you think i will have the same problem?

All suppliers are (rightly) becoming more aggressive with the wording of their automated demands. It isn't a problem, surely - you know when your bill will arrive, you know what the reading is on your meter, you know approximately how much you will have to pay, you have three months to save up the payment. There is no excuse not to pay your bill a day or two after receiving it.

A month later is too late. Pay it the week you receive the bill. Why on earth do you need the extra 21 days???

If their payment terms are 14 days after the bill is produced, then they will send threatening letters. Just like if you don't pay your mortgage, rent, or credit card bill on time, you get threatening letters.

If you're struggling to pay your bills within the credit terms provided, then the monthly payment plan is the way to go. That way they take a fixed amount each month to cover any arrears and your future estimated usage.

I think the disabilities and benefits are a bit of a red herring here, disabled people an those on benefits can still budget. If you don't like the idea of a payment plan, put some money aside each week in a jar or maybe a savings account, and then when you receive the bill, you take the money out and pay the bill on time.
do you think i will have the same problem?
Yes, you will unless you budget for the bill, or go on the monthly payment plan.

I think you will find its 4 weeks in a month my last bill was paid 14 days late
not 21 just cause you have the money to pay this sort of cash out in right away
don't mean I do but I am glad I have given you the opportunity to show off your
status as a model bill payer and try and belittle me for doing my best to keep my head above water.

and while am saving up for 3 months to pay my gas bill do i get to eat or maybe I should just save up for all my bills every week having nothing but paying the bills on time of just freeze to death !!!!!!

My annual consumption for gas works out at £420, so I put £8.50 a week aside from my money. Surely that isn't impossible for you?

You stated YOURSELF you are able to pay your bill within one month of receiving it. Why, then, can't you use the month BEFORE the bill is due? What's the difference? What the dickens has starving or freezing got to do with anything???

You are not making any sense.

(And I was using 7 days to pay the bill on time plus 21 days.)

Equally, the OP states that (s)he manages to pay the bill; one would have thought saving a smaller amount over a longer period would reduce the pain that (s)he feels in the month when they pay the full amount due?

You might find it useful to use http://smartmeter.ukpower.co.uk/ each week to work out your costs then you can set the right money away as you go. If you struggle for the winter bills then set aside extra in the summer, a bit like a payment plan but you are the one in control.

Hazzanet i would sooner just pay the bill within a month of getting it and then
its gone sooner than paying every month.. 14 days extra with no threats on a winter bill isn't really to much to ask a multimillion £ in profit company.

and not a single person has answered my OP that is purely to do with ebico
I have found the answer myself ......at last a company that has some grasp on reality.

    Paygo swipe card

The Paygo swipe card is a flexible payment option that you can use to pay your bill at any PayPoint or Post Office. You decide when and how much to pay. You can even make payments before you get your bill. All payments are shown on your quarterly bill and any remaining balance will need to be paid in full when you get your next bill.
This is a great way to pay if you don’t have a regular income or struggle to pay quarterly bills in full.

KimYeovil What's the difference if I pay it a month after the bill they still got paid albeit 14 days later than they lay out

    What the dickens :rotfl:

And what the dickens is the difference between the swipe card and the normal way with Ebico? Swan in to a post office with your bill and use it to pay deposits - no need for a plastic card. And, duh, is that not paying it over the month (or three months) BEFORE the bill is due as first suggested? :rotfl: yourself.

You really are a rather strange chap!

14 days later is 14 days late. You will still get nasty letters if you do not pay your bills promptly when using a card. Do show some sense.

I've re-read what you've quoted about the swipe card. I confirm it does not address the questions (and objections) you have made!!!

    Craziness.

(And I did answer your question in my first response. The phrase "all suppliers" includes the supplier Ebico.)

obviously i have misunderstood the swipe card details

so Ebico will just have to wait till am ready to pay them END OF its tough if they don't like it and if you don't like it KimYeovil the same goes for you
