Washable/Reusable Nappies

Hi Sammy,
Like you I'm still getting to grips with all the options - made even more difficult by the fact baby isn't even born yet. I just bought 10 bambino mio applix (velcro) wraps in 3 different sizes plus 10 thick cotton inserts for £15 from thenappysite.co.uk. They are in great condition too. I got a trial pack of 4 different popular nappies from Keepitrealnappies - spent nothing due to council's £50 cashback incentive and if I don't use any - they have great resale value as ones like Itti Bitti and Bum Genius seem v. popular. I think I'll get some good fitting wraps (3 or 4?) and a variety of inserts for now...but I do see how the addiction takes hold as some of them are so adorable.0 -
I put a wanted ad up on Netmums and got zillions for £50. Our LA do £30 cashback on reusables too so actually only cost £20. :money:
When I was researching I found that LittleLamb do factory seconds on Ebay which worked out pretty good value for money.
Good luck with it all!Updating soon...0 -
My brother and his GF are expecting a baby in February, and DH and I have decided that we want to buy them a useful gift, as money is tight, and we can afford to help them out a little bit.
We're thinking of buying them a full set of washable nappies, to see them through to potty training. Has anyone got any advice and recommendations on what will be required etc? Obviously we'll check that they actually want to go down the washable route before we buy them!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 2016

I've just decided to take the plunge with washables and I found the following websites really helpful

www.clothnappytree.co.uk
I personally have gone for Pocket style nappies, but they are the most expensive option (I managed to get new FuzziBunz on Ebay for £6 each) with prices of around £10-15 per nappy. If you think your brother and his GF are up for it then prefolds or terries are really cheap but the new style all-in-ones or Pockets are certainly easier, especially for the babysitter/grandparents/childminder wo may not be familiar with them.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

You can get birth to potty pocket nappies on ebay for about £3 each- they are chinese sellers but never had a problem.
However, pocket nappies aren't brilliant for the first 6-8 weeks, lots of people use folded muslins and seperate wraps for the first bit. For baby 2 we have lots of newborn prefolds that we will do up with a nippa and then put motherease rikki wraps over the top.:jMummy to 2 small 4 year old bundles of mischief!:j0
