Ofgem forcast by 25% by the end of the decade.
I wish you luck in your new project, however the public have every right to be wary - if not cynical!
The way the industry is structured gas and electricity prices are largely controlled by the suppliers and not the distributors and you are at their mercy. I fail to see how any company, even a non-profit company, can do more than shave a percent or two off prices; Ebico being a good example.
As you no doubt know, at the time of privatisation scores of companies started up and nearly all have been swallowed by the Big 6. The classic pattern has been to build up a customer base and 'sell' those customers to a Big 6 company. Is this right?Let me ask you all, if the cost of water were to double, or triple would that be ok? As long as the shareholders get their return
Unless you are aiming to get a job(unpaid of course!) as a leader writer for the Daily Star, can you explain the relevance of that quote please?0 -
In theory it is a good idea until you actually look at the long term costs.0

After 10 years, you failed to bring the product successfully to market (at least in numbers that made any commercial sense) and ended up selling the company and its product last year.
What makes you think you can succeed in bringing energy to the market successfully as a non-profit making organisation?
There's a huge difference between being a mad inventor and being a successful businessman ... as a quick look at BBC's Dragon's Den will demonstrate.matt_stockdale wrote: »...Lets discuss Ebico, who I commend for their input into the industry. Ebico's focus is on green energy, as is fair pricing for those on prepayment meters. ...
They are not a green company
In fact, direct from their website:How green is Equipower?
While we make no ‘green’ claims for EquiPower,...
It is true they also have something called EquiClimate, but that was launched later in 2005, 5 years after they had already begun supplying energy on a non-profit making business.
The name Ebico comes from Equitable Billing Company, nothing to do with green issues.
Also if you had known about Ebico, how come you were happy for TV programmes to suggest you were going to be the first non-profit making supplier of energy? If you had looked more closely at your existing competitor in the market, you would have known how many customers they have gained after 10 years trading (as well as how many fewer they had after just 5 years trading)matt_stockdale wrote: »Finally, just before I go...I will be contacting Martin Lewis directly in due course, sharing with him our 'at cost' rates. ....
Perhaps you should have already contacted MSE Martin. You are not allowed to post on MSE as an official company representative without prior approval

Anyway, why not share your rates with us all now???
Could it be that you have no current source for energy? So you have no idea what your purchase price will be? You have no idea on the size of expected market? You probably have no idea of costs & overheads ... and even if you do, without knowing market size, you don't know how to spread them out? Do you actually have a supply licence? Have you even applied for one? Or are you going to copy Ebico's business model in that respect too?
Your new company, together with its holding company, were only incorporated last August. What have you been doing since last August? If you have a product to sell, why can't you provide us with a retail price?
Admit it, you don't currently have a business... just a website and a possible dream.
Have you looked at how familiar this sounds to a certain Ben Scammell and his Pipeline card pipedream did about 5 years ago, where cheap petrol was promised for all???"Now to trolling as a concept. .... ... if he is doing a no profit makeing energy deal to customers so what he pays for it he sells at the same price I would say it has to be cheaper.
Ebico are already supplying as a non-profit making company, yet they are not cheaper... in fact for many more expensive, especially for their electricity supply."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
