I am writing a letter to Whitbread as advised I never thought of asking for all my money back but will do that as you have pointed out our money was wasted and we paid for a service we never got.......

The waitress very kindly offered to scrape said nuts off. To which my sister-in-law replied "sure no problem", reached into her hand back and pulled out a 4 inch syringe and said " when i start to froth at the mouth, stab me in the heart with this"

I know it's a really serious matter, but your sil sounds a very amusing person. :D

I'm sure a letter to Head Office will result in an apology and a refund/vouchers. Good luck!

My other favourite haunt in Reading was Church's restaurant - is that still there?

You can't get food poisoning from eating meat unless it's not cooked properly ;)

Weve stopped going in Brewers Fayre as we found the service and the food appauling. I ordered lamb pie last time but the lamb was really tough and the time before I ordered steak which was also really tough. Both these times I have complained at the table and got my meal for free.

Hope you get on well by writing to them.

It was round behind McDonalds(!) The entrance was off the side road by what used to be The Old Rep and near to Yates.

A really nice cafe/restaurant with really good food. I remember the manager also being rather cute!

I usually find that standing up and shouting loudly tends to get the manager's attention, althought you have to have a certain temperament to feel comfortable shouting "I've never been so insulted in my life. I'm disgusted at the way I have been treated and demand to see the manager now!". I suppose I've always been somewhat theatrical!
