no still in england..... 28k to 35k I would dispute is a lot less, when you add in pension, holidays, mat pay etc.... and i don't know many people working in the private sector that earn 35k (execpt people who own their own businesses or Uilitie Companies).....
Still think the CS needs streamlining and lets start by getting rid of any strikers...
well you cant get rid of strikers... seemed to be a whole different kettle of fish when industry workers go on strike! imagine as some have been told - you may lose your job this year and we've decided to take up to £20,000 off your redundacy! can you IMAGINE for one second how that would feel?
just because someone is earning 28k a year doesnt mean they can afford to take that hit!
if all your friends are really only getting 14k a year maybe they are in the wrong industry? or perhaps they havent been working for 30 years?0 -

Didn't say my friends were earning 14k,, said the average wage around here is 14k.....
Totally disagree with strikes....The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -
ah well as long as you get your JSA!
I'm not and have never been on JSA..... did try to register 5 years ago when i lost my job at the time, but was a total an utter waste of time and effert, advisors with little clue and some bloke in a JSP call centre claiming the new deal worked because he got a job through it... ... but hey got another job... and didn't need to deal with the idots at the JSP ever again (well so far)...The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -
Leave him alone....the world's against him as he is a ginger....Awwwwww:p0

I'm not and have never been on JSA. QUOTE]
But you might be one day, never know what's round the corner, life doesn't always go the way we'd like it to.
Any way really hope you never do have to claim JSA or any other benefit but at least it's there if you need it in the future and for those that need it now, better than people being homeless or worse still starving.0 -
Civil Servants are going on strike
Thay have a legal right to do so
Get over itThe World come on.....0 -
I'm sure you can if you're prepared to give up 2 days money - most Unions are very inclusive!
Of course, it might be cancelled at the last minute, and the office might still close as the Union won't think to tell the members. Last time, I was happily striking away, in my PJ's when I get a phone call from my boss, asking where I am. "At home, striking" says I. "Was called off last night" says he - had to take a day's leave. Grrrr
When you go on strike you are supposed to go to work and stand outside in a large crowd to show unity and strength, you're not supposed to stay in bed and watch TV whilst leaving the few strikers who know how to strike properly, to despair at the low turnout on the picket line.0 -
the thread's being hijacked what about the strike how can we find out?
Find out what? Jeez what's the big deal, you are supposed to sign on a strike day you are either walking distance from the JC, in which case go for a nice walk to sign on as usual and take the appropriate action when you find the JC open or closed.
Or you are not walking distance, so phone the JC before setting off, but if you can't get through on the phone then it's tough luck you'll have to go anyway.0 -

No, actually - there are rules about this sort of thing.
Here's a quote from the direct.gov website:
"Normally there should be no more than six pickets outside an entrance. This is the maximum number recommended in the Code of Practice on picketing.":hello:0
