Or a packet of condoms.
I will have a look at the volvos, condoms didn't didn't seem to do the job last time;)Hi there, We have 4 kids and have recently gone from a Honda FRV to a Chrysler Grand Voyager and I LOVE the Chrysler the best car we've ever had. We don't use tht much fuel although we have a diesel 2.8 Ltd CRD model. The boot is huge and gets all our bags, shopping,, pushchairs etc in.
I would always recommend the ChryslerI think your mum's suggestion has some merit:T.
Minibus is cheaper than merc or a chrystler. IMHO, these are both gas guzzling and uggly, but each to their own ....
I have looked about at minibuses but I can't seem to find many nice looking ones, although I am not entirely bothered about looks it does factor in slightly:oUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

We have a Zafira as you can use half boot and half seat which works for our dogs.My brother has 4 kids under 5 and they have a VW Touran. They did look at changing it when number 4 arrived in December, but seem to be coping quite well with it. Bearing in mind they have to get a double buggy in too.
They've had the car quite a while now and it is extremely reliable, good on fuel and insurance.VW Caravelle or Peugeot Expert if you want people and lots of luggage space. Caravelle is 4.9m long, only a few centimetres longer than a Mondeo Estate.
Thanks I will look at all these suggestions....haven't heard of a Peugeot Expert before. I love it when new names pop up:D

I personally wouldn't go for one of the smaller MPVs if I needed to use it for 4 children full-time.
A Zafira is really only a tall Astra estate, and the rear seats are very flimsy, and not easy to get to if you have car seats strapped into the middle row, because of the way they fold.
The Touran and Verso and other cars like that also have fold-down rear seats that are very close to the back windows, and when they are in use, there is no luggage space left.
I have 4 children too, and we've had a Galaxy, an Espace and now a Citroen C8. The Citroen is the roomiest of all, but I know that lots of people aren't fans of French cars. Ours has been OK, so far, and there is tons of space in it.
If I were buying now, and I had the money, I'd love something like a Transporter.
You'll also need to think about the layout of the seats. Some of them have a 2/2/3 (rather than a 2/3/2) combination and you could be stuck for removing seats if you wanted more luggage space (unless the rear 3-seat moves forwards, and you can place a single one behind). I'm sure we looked at one where we could only remove one of the middle row seats, leaving us with nowhere for luggage. Possible the Sedona or the Voyager? Not sure.
There are lots of things to think about, though.0 -
3.0 litre? Why? The 2 litre and below diesel engines are powerful enough these days and will save you a TON of money on fuel.Pants0

Grand Voyager. We've got the older 2.5 crd returning around 32-33 MPG running around. We've twins so needed room for a double buggy.
With the addition of a roofbox, we were able to fit in everything we needed for a week away (without filling the passenger space with stuff).
We looked at minibuses at the time and liked the Renault Traffic/Vauxhall Vivaro if the colour was right.
Never looked at the C8 (possibly outwith what we were spending at the time) and although I looked at a grand espace, it was only from the outside.0 -
Try one of these.0

*confused man I need you*
I did originally say that I was put off the Chrysler because it was over 3l, I have now seen the 2.5l models which I think are much more acceptable:)Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

I have the same issue as you, 3 children and one on the way. I think my budget must be about one eighth of yours though :rotfl: We're intending to get another galaxy and take out one of the back seats so we have 6 seats for when we all need to go out, and the storage space only using six seats creates, then of course we will have another seat in case of extra people going anywhere (or if we end up with the twins/triplets OH keeps insisting we're having ).
Would six seats in use be enough for you? you could easily fit a twin buggy and a large dog in with 6 seats.
Hope I've helpedMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Try Kia Carens - 7 seats - 7 yr warranty - reasonably priced - good fuel economy - both manual/auto availableHappiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
