Too many kids, need bigger car!

Options
Hi

I hope someone can help point me in the direction of what I am looking for:)

Basically we are due our 4th baby in June which means my Estate will need to be changed for a 7/8seater, now the problem I am finding is that all these types of cars have tiny, tiny boots, tbh it barely qualifies to be called a boot imo:p I realise I have been used to an Estate and will need to adjust slightly but am on a search for a 7/8seater that has a big (or at least decent sized) boot as we will need to fit in a double pushchair. We also have a large dog and ideally I still want to be able to take him out in the car (the reason we went for an estate) He is a Lab x Newf so fairly big!

The best options I have been told about so far are.....Mercedes V220/230 or a Chrysler grand voyager...both of these are lovely although I am a bit dubious about the Chrysler as it seems to be a bit of a gas guzzler at 3.3l so I would prefer to keep below a 3l engine if possible.....

Has anyone got any alternatives that they could point me in the direction of please. I really would like more choice....btw my mum's suggestion was a minibus:o

avoid chrysler if your thinking merc v class look at vito dualiner/traveliner
if you do decide on a diesel merc get inspected as they suffer with injector seals leaking and makes a right old mess to fix

I find a mini with a large roof rack and some bungee cords sufficient to transport multiple kids :D

We have a Zafira as you can use half boot and half seat which works for our dogs.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

My brother has 4 kids under 5 and they have a VW Touran. They did look at changing it when number 4 arrived in December, but seem to be coping quite well with it. Bearing in mind they have to get a double buggy in too.

They've had the car quite a while now and it is extremely reliable, good on fuel and insurance.
  • Get yourself a Volvo 940 or V90 (posh version), with the two rear-facing seats.

    Or a packet of condoms.

Hi there, We have 4 kids and have recently gone from a Honda FRV to a Chrysler Grand Voyager and I LOVE the Chrysler the best car we've ever had. We don't use tht much fuel although we have a diesel 2.8 Ltd CRD model. The boot is huge and gets all our bags, shopping,, pushchairs etc in.

I would always recommend the Chrysler :D
Wife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart

I think your mum's suggestion has some merit:T.

Minibus is cheaper than merc or a chrystler. IMHO, these are both gas guzzling and uggly, but each to their own ....

VW Caravelle or Peugeot Expert if you want people and lots of luggage space. Caravelle is 4.9m long, only a few centimetres longer than a Mondeo Estate.
