Talktalk Broadband Setup

  • I've solved my problem with email not working. Firstly I tried accessing my new TT email by web mail. This showed that the account existed and was working, but just didn't download to Outlook Express. I had registered for their on line billing but this hadn't registered (you get a confirmatory email when it does), so I registered for this again and the confirmatory email was generated. Then I checked the account settings on Outlook Express and noticed that I'd used the wrong account name (using phonenumber@talktalk.net instead of my email address). Once corrected all worked fine. Hope this helps others.

Has anybody else had this problem? I've been live with them apparently since June but have received absolutely zilch. And they haven't answered my emails.

    Hi there,

Yup - me too. After providing them with my MAC code on 06.07.06, I called them on 31.07.06 (after trying 24 tmes to get through!!) and was told that they had no record of my MAC no.. So I gave it to them again on 31.07.06 with only 3 days to go before it expired. Their Indian call centre assured me that they would put it through as a priority. What a load of bull - nothing has happened. Tomorrow I'm going to have to call my existing ISP and get another MAC No. and go through the whole process again. TalkTalk are a bunch of cons - for goodness sake don't go with them. They are impossble to get hold of - can't get through on the 'phone and they don't respond to e-mails. Have you read Charles Dunstone's 'blogs' on their website - what a load of crap! Their staff are incompetentand are a bunch of liars!

Was listening to a financial programme on the radio yesterday and talktalk was discussed

Good thing is that their deal had kicked other providers into giving us better deals.

The consensus regarding talk talk is that they are not a bad company, but that they were totally unprepared for the interest they would attract with the offer- apparently they planed at most for 100,000 new customers

They got 340,000 - we can't all start the service on the same day - give them a chance, what do you expect for 21 quid a month?

They were a poor unreliable service when people were paying full whack for it, nothing has changed now the cost has come right down, they didn't have the infrastructure in place then to handle the number of customers they had for broadband from day one, again nothing has changed, it doesn't matter if they can't put people on to their service quick enough, they still just don't have the broadband infrastructure in place (don't want to pay for it) for it to handle a fraction of the customers they have let alone the number they do have.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I transferred over in April, in May they wrote to me to tell me they having probs with BT but I would be treated as VIP! Anyway phone switched over in June, and provided MAC code on 13/7, received delivery confirmation aswell to the email.Been trying for the last week to contact them, if I get through I get cut off, ive been told 3 diff things but now it appears that like a previous person they didnt receive the MAC code (funny that)anyway the MAC code runs out on Sunday Midnight when my current provider ceases the service. So im without broadband from then and Ive paid to obtian the MAC code from current provider.
TalkTalk say that once this happens they will provide the service to me, do I believe them or do I stay with current provider? I need to phone them today if I do.
You cant get through on the phone, emailed the Chief Exec (got auto response only) and even written to them all without reply.Im paying for the package (I know that broadband is free)but wouldnt have this package otherwise as dotn use the phone that oftn but cant even cancel the package as I cant get though......also tied into 18months contract

This company are con artists, that employ staff in India who doent even know what a MAC code is (that is when you can get through to them)

What do I do re my current service???

Lisa who will be broadband less as from Monday :(

  • I can't believe I fell for the lure of talk talk, before reading any of these threads!

I received my modem and ran the disc only to have my computer crash completely, I lost everything and had to restore factory settings!

Finally I set up broadband but had real trouble with their email login, phoned and spoke to someone but they were no help and she kept saying a new disc would be sent out, I said it was now working but I had lost everything off my computer! she repeated that some of the discs were faulty and she would send another one!

I was then led through the process of setting up my email through Outlook Express as she said there were problems with their webmail! oh my - what have I done!

Has this happened to anyone else, with their comp crashing after loading the disc?
If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.
