Have you tried to balance the system? 10mm will tend to get blocked and reduce the flow to rads.I would say a powerflush would help the system, and you have alraedy noticed you have a build up of sludge.
You could take the rads off and flush them with a hose, but this wont remove the sludge in the pipes or boiler.
You should be able to get this done for £275- £325.

I've balanced the system downstairs to the point where all the rads are pumping out roughly the same amount of heat, however i've still got the problem with them being warm at the bottom and hot at the top. I've not bothered balancing it upstairs because they all seem fine and the pipe that feeds the downstairs rads is really hot.
Do you think its a power flush job then?

    Thanks for the reply.
The pipe coming down from upstairs is really hot so does that eliminate a problem with blockage upstairs?
Also should the hottest pipe go into the LSV or the Thermostat valve?
Since the downstairs rads are really hot at the top do you think i should just flush them out because sludge might be in the bottom 2/3rds?

It would depend on wether the thermo valve is a reversable, check the direction of the valve. It can be hot, but not getting full flow to the rad.
Also it is possable the pump could be on its way out?

As you sad you already have sludge in the system, so you should try and eliminate that first.

Thers is no problem with micro-bore, its how it is installed? people putting long runs in,using it on large DP rads so its not carrying enough heat etc.

Bit to far out of my area, but do go to Denton on a contract.

Denton is only 2 mins from my house.
Anyhow, seeing the diagram do you think there is too much piping for microbore to handle. The distance is about 8 metres from the kitchen rad to the living room rad.
I have a problem somewhere and i'm assuming its downstairs, maybe you know an honest contact who could help or maybe yourself.

Because the prob is downstairs due to gravity do you think its sludge? I'm no plumber so i'm just guessing.
