Can some one who knows about cars/tyres visit and inspect and make an informed choice? possibly.
Can the OP when taking his sig and post into consideration? probably not.
Local use still includes the possibility of an emergency stop/lane change at 50-60mph
Every tyre is made from Carbon Black & Rubber.
ta for your help i went to a tyre place and he said £20 each for 2nd hand and £30 each new but i've no idea if they are well known names

you would have to be a complete numpty to buy part worn used secondhand tyres,
ask yourself why are they partworn?
what was previous use ?
were they from a crashed car?
do they have internal damage?
TYRES ARE THE ONLY THING KEEPING YOU IN CONTACT WITH THE ROAD
DONT SCRIMP and buy rubbish0 -
Buy pressure tested ones like I do. Cant go wrong then.0

still wont show internal damage
after all we are only talking a micra circa£25-£30 for new0 -
Any decent tyre fitter will check the innards before mounting on a rim to pressure test.
The £30 new tyre wont have much rubber in it and will wear out very quickly. Also wont give decent grip like a premium brand tyre will.0 -
you will not see internal struture damage,
as for cheap tyres not all wear out quickly and give poor grip if you know about tyres thery have treadwaer and traction codes on the sidewall.
and as tyres are useless in the wet below 3mm of tread,
given a choice between new or used new wins every time0 -

Its not possible to check the innards of the tyre unless x-rayed, % rubber in car tyres is pretty much the same it is the rubber composition that changes and the ratio of natural/synthetc.
Due to the normal trade offs wear rates of cheeposhimoto tyres could well be longer than some grippy Yokos but without the performance.
Im sure that most are sound afterall we all buy 2nd hand cars with four used tyres but the is obviously a risk involved, especially when we cannot see why they are 2nd hand and the market is unregulated.
Best left for those like yourself that can reduce the risk as much as possible.0 -
I'm not getting into this debate again.
Harvey are you serious there's a brand of tyres called KENCO?!0
