Well today we went to my 1st ever & last wedding fayre and it was held at the venue where we are having our wedding.

We have paid our venue £310 to hire the church, but today there were offering the church hire for FREE if you booked your wedding today, DF & me think this is a little unfair so we have sent them an email asking if we can have it free too, no harm in asking is there.

We also decided against the canapes at £5.95 a head as i felt they wouldnt get eaten by our guests BUT we did see the ice cram cart selling locally made ice cream, we sampled it and it was gorgoues, we over heard her telling someone what their hire charge was, so we waited until everyone had walked away and said, we dont have 150 guests we only have 75 is there some room for negotiation on the price. To which she replied, oh certainly as it means i dont need to pay another member of staff as 1 person can handle it and you will only need half the ice cream. So we managed to get her down from £400 to £250, that will serve 75 with unlimited trips to the ice cream cart for 2 hours. We are having this outside straight after the church whilst the photos are being taken as its august i think an ice cream is always in order and will go down much better than some salmon on a cracker with a bit of greenery. This is almst half the price of what the canapes would have cost us.

I also found a florist who will do my bouquet, 2 mini bouquets and 4 button holes for £140.

We also decided to have balloons as the centre pieces as they are only £9 per table.

We Have gone a little mad and saw a wedding planner who had the most gorgeous chair covers, there not plain white like most others and she double sashes them and ties them with a large diamantee buckle which fits in with our theme for £260. But i am only booking these if the venue agree to us having the church for free.

I have also scaled the budget down in other places and i still need to contact the bridal shop about cancelling my stupidly expensive veil.

When i have updated my spreadsheet i will give you the updated totals and how much i have saved / spend / swapped.

Brilliant Princesswoo, I find that at Wedding Fairs you get a chance to 'strike while the iron is hot' as the people there want to seal a deal to feel that it was worthwhile attending! I got make up person, magician and tiara at fairs!

Ok i have updated my spreadsheet and with the extras added, like the ice cream and more expensive chair covers + the budget scaled down in other places like flowers, rings, gifts, shoes, extras, people not coming and getting the church for free etc i have managed to:

    :T:TSave £2000 off our budget today:T:T

(or £3000 from my very 1st budget)

I also ordered my wedding ring today too.

It was £79.99 in H samuel. I did a bit of a scout around for a discount code and couldnt find one so i had a look on ebay. I found a seller selling 2 x £25 off if you spend over £75 for £1.99.

So i took a teeny risk and bought them, 10 minutes later the codes were emailed to me and i used the first code on my ring, i went through quidco as well, making it about £50.

I also ordered a ring sizer for £1 for DF as he likes a ring in hsamuel that is £100 and i have 1 x £25 off code left to use, i will again go through quidco making his ring about £65.

So will we will both have rings for £115, when my original budget was £800, then to £500 then to £300.

I also haggled the chair hire company down to £3 per chair cover as they wanted £3.50, all i said was 70 x £3 was easier for me to work out in my head than 70 x £3.50 and she said - ah go on then.

I am on a roll today.
