Call Centres...

Which Banks, Credit Cards, Phone Companies, Utilities etc use overseas call centres and where are they located? What are people's general opinion on them? I phoned T-Mobile and got through to the Phillipines and found they could not do much beyond tell you what your current balance owing was.

Provided that the agent is able to help me with my query I couldn't care less whether it's in Newport or the North Pole.

Saying that the best customer service I have on my accounts is American Express from their call centres in Brighton and West Yorkshire. Always able and willing to help.

NatWest are pretty good too...call centres dotted around the place, in the UK.

I gave up trying the mobile company orange call operatives.

Not one sodding word in English. Too many Patels on the other end.

    Can't speak the lingo.

    Natwest is deff good.

The customer service for Three is the total pits.
  • Off-Shore contact centres are a false economy in my opinion and I believe a lot of UK companies who have operations in another country are starting to realise the damage they do to customer base and brand.

I go all out to avoid companies that have off-shore contact centres wherever possible. I am sorry if I am calling with a query I expect it to be answered by someone that understands me and can communicate in plain English.

I absolutely despise speaking to foreign contact centres and having to struggle to get my message accross and struggle to understand their reply.

My feelings are straight forward, if you don't give me decent customer service then I will cancel the service or product. It's that simple for me.

T-Mobile drive me up the wall with their call centres, I rang about 10 times and everytime a script reader answered I hung up until, thank phuck, I got through to Doxford Park in Sunderland and my problem was delt with swiftly and left me feeling a happy customer.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I work for Admiral Insurance - we have callcentres in Uk, India & Canada.
I find that the Reps we have in India speak really clear english & have no problems understanding any queries or concerns a customer may have. We have trainers from the UK over there permanently which probably helps. But I have found with other companies this is not the case - most recently with Nokia, who I am having a lot of trouble with. (That's another story :rotfl:)
T-mobile are another company who leave a lot to be desired, & family have had hell with 3 previously. I have always dealt with UK call centres when I call Natwest as far as I am aware so have no experience otherwise.
  • I know halifax has call centres in uk, Not that i've had to deal with them much, when I ever I have I've never had any problems. I tend to try and not deal with companys that have non uk call centres, Have had terrible experance with BT's customer service however this included there uk call centres. I would not bank with a bank with non uk call centres tho, as I find they struggle with my accsent :p

I make a point of only dealing with companies with UK based call centres.

I've cancelled my Barclaycard due to their offshore call centre. The card used to be a Morgan Stanley with an excellent UK call centre until they were taken over by Goldfish, and then Barclaycard.

First Direct are very good, as are American Express and Tesco Personal Finance.
Self confessed nerd when it comes to anything financial and/or numerical!
