its for sponge cake mix and you pile fruit into middle - use a standard victoria sponge recipe - which I believe calls for 8oz flour. not sure as last time i remember seeing one of those was when i was a child!!!! my nan used to make this georgeous sponge with either blackberries apples or rhubarb - cooked - and served with custard (never cream - doubt if she could afford it)

The area of your... washing machine door... is 78.54 square inches minus the area of the middle bit. If the middle bit is:

    2 ins across = 3.14 square ins
    3 ins across = 7.06 square ins
    4 ins across = 12.56 square ins
    5 ins across = 19.63 square ins
    6 ins across = 28.27 square ins
    7 ins across = 38.48 square ins
    8 ins across = 50.26 square ins
    9 ins across = 63.62 square ins

So, measure your middle bit. Find what the square ins of that is in the list above. Deduct that from 78.54.

THIS IS NOT AS COMPLICATED AS IT SOUNDS! :rotfl:You don't need to be THAT accurate.

See what you're left with and which measurement that's closest to. For example, if your middle bit is 4 ins across, then you deduct 12.56 sq ins from 78.54 and that gives you 65.98 which is as near as dammit the same the square inches for the 9 inch measurement. So then just use the amount of cake mix you'd use for a 9" tin!

Hey - it's evening, and I'm still doing maths... Who said pi r squared would never come in useful?

    Or... you could just guess...

me again - memories are coming back - well it WAS nearly fifty years ago!!! I believe its called a 'savarin' mould. my nan used it for her dessert thingy. but you can use it as a mould to press rice or potato salad etc into to serve it nicely. very retro!!!

Fanny Craddock (yeah, I'm that old, lol!) used to use one of these to make salmon mousse etc in. You had to do some sort of complicated process to line it with aspic, then pour in the mousse.
