Saw a really ugly dress (magenta taffeta with sequins, massive shoulder pads...all the worst things about the 80s!) for sale in my local charity shop. It was designed by the woman who designed Princess Di's wedding dress, almost new and they were trying to flog it for £200. I don't think they got any takers - it would make anyone look absurd! This particular charity shop is very expensive though.0

I love charity shops! Practically my whole summer wardrobe has come from our local charity shop including Next jeans, cut off trousers and skirts all for £1.50 each. We often go to Matlock/Bakewell for the day out and visit all the charity shops there but they are often on the pricey side. They sometimes have M & S t-shirts in for more than they are new! i'm sure if they knew they would price them lower. Have had some real bargains over the years though and I still have my handbag I bought for £1.00 ten years ago, used daily and people still comment on how nice it is!0

I'm a regular charity shop shopper and today on lunch, I got a new BHS school skirt for DD, new plimsols for DS and an aromotherapy set from Boots (£6) all for £2.00! They were all in new condition. I then went back to work feeling pleased with myself and thought my bag was £1.00 from a charity shop 10 YEARS AGO  , my next shirt was £1.50 and everyone has commented how nice it is, and my trousers were £2.00. The only "new" things I had on me were my shoes, knickers and bra!
I'm now on the hunt for Christmas things to fill Pamper Hampers for the family!
Just thought I'd share it with you and invite you to offer your great Charity Shop finds!0 -
If you are going to donate your unwanted stuff to a charity shop please follow the following simple points...
DON'T
Broken items
(they have to pay for their rubbish to be taken away and the cant sell stuff that needed to bined anyway)
Electrical Items
(due to goverment regulations each needs a check first and this costs money, or at leat check that they take them first).
Leave bags infront of doors during closing hours -unless otherwise stated.
(they are a fire risk and Rats do tend to pee over everything)
Children's books that are ripped or even colouring ones that are all done would be better in re-cyling centres
DO...
Give items a quick clean,or wipe before taking them.
seperate re-saleable clothes from ragging ones.. (if your local shop raggs dirty, ripped items)
empty pockets ( you never know there might be a £5 note in there).
If you have missing sets of items ie: tea coffe and sugar pots please think are they really going to sell only 2 of them...
Try and put group's of items in the same box..it's easier to sort them out

It is a flan ring I take it?? If so you could start off with 8oz of everything and see if it fills it up. Then make more if it doesn't.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
